Job Description

Labour inspectors are part of the Government administrative system, and their essential purpose is to ensure compliance with all labour protection standards, as well as develop labour relations in an orderly and constructive way in order to:

a. Enforce the labour laws, related regulations, and applicable National Standards for labour laws compliance;

b. Advise employers and workers on how to best comply with the legal framework;

c. Report to superiors on problems and defects not covered by different policies, laws and regulations; and recommend necessary reviews;

d. Promote a stable Occupational safety, hygiene, health and welfare for a productive working environment in all workplaces;

e. Promote, enforce or monitor a sound, productive and harmonious labour relations, in particular collective bargaining agreements;

f. Promoting harmonious relations and social dialogue between employers and workers;

g. Investigating complaints, and conciliating in disputes between employers and workers;

h. Conduct specific inspections on Child Labour for better implementation of National Policy on Elimination of child Labour;

i. Submit an annual report on the work of labour inspection to the Competent authority with a copy to the District. j. A candidate wishing to apply for this post will be able to work in any District of the Country.

Job Profile

A0 in Law, Labour Administration, Public Administration, Administrative Sciences, Management, Labour Psychology;

Key Technical Skills & Knowledge required :

– Extensive knowledge and understanding of Labour policies and law;
– Ability to conduct investigations in complex establishments;
– Mediation and negotiations skills;
-Analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
-Technical understanding of system being analyzed and how it affects the various business units.
-Good at handling and meeting deadlines.
-Multi-tasking skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities and keep up with project scope changes.
-Able to work well with both clients from Public and Private Sector.
-Good presentation skills, and ability to communicate with various audiences, including end users, managers.
-Self-starter with leadership skills in order to take charge of or facilitate requirement-gathering sessions.
-Strong attention to detail organizational skills.
-Quick learner who is easily able to learn new products, systems, applications and technologies
