The Rwanda Red Cross (RRC) is seeking two (2) suitable candidates on the position of project coordinator for its community Resilience project based in Karongi and Rutsiro districts. The two candidates will report directly to the project coordinator at National level, under the Disaster Management Service.

The two assistants project coordinators will oversee the planning, reporting, implementation, and tracking of results in 28 villages targeted by the community Resilience program, implemented in Partnership with the Belgian Red Cross (French community) with the Support of the Belgian Cooperation (DGD).


1.The assistant project Coordinator based in Karongi District

Project implementation, Planning, monitoring, Reporting

  • Execute the project activities according to the project annually and Quarterly plans.
  • Coordinate all the livelihoods activities (Associations/Cooperatives management, income generating activities, saving and credit schemes activities “tontines”, economic development of households) in 14 villages supported by the community Resilience program in Karongi District and Province at odd times support follow up of livelihoods activities in other 14 villages supported by the same project in Rutsiro District.
  • Set up to project filling systems to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the Project
  • Make regular updates on the project progress to the stakeholders including: local authorities, local Red Cross Committee at District and Sector level, Volunteers and Beneficiaries. This can be implemented through steering committee meetings and joint evaluation Sessions.
  • Ensure that all the involved Red Cross volunteers receive appropriate orientations of projects plan and strategies of implementation
  • Review the quality of the work completed by the Red Cross volunteers and Sector/cell levels focal points to ensure that it meets the established standards
  • Monitor activities of Sector/cell levels focal points and village level volunteers including: community health promotion, livelihood and disaster risk reduction.
  • Accompany and guide focal point and volunteers in planning sessions at the District level
  • Participate in the annually and Quarterly program planning sessions organized at the RRC Headquarters
  • Produce quarterly and annually report to the intention of the program coordinator at the National level with the approval and accountability of the Red Cross coordinator in Karongi and Rutsiro Districts
  • Monitor all budgeted project expenditures at Karongi District level
  • Ensure the compliance of the Red Cross accounting policies and procedures on the use of project funds and justifications at the level of Karongi Red Cross Committee

Work Experience

  • Proven 2 years working experience in project management of rural development projects, integrated projects, livelihoods projects or community resilience project
  • Proven 2 year experience working in the domain of agriculture.

Education Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness;






2.The Assistant Project Coordinator based in Rutsiro District

Project implementation, planning, monitoring, reporting;

  • Execute the project activities according to the project annually and Quarterly plans.
  • Coordinate all the livestock management activities in 14 villages supported by the same project in Karongi District.
  • Set up of project filling system to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project progress to the stakeholders including: local authorities, local Red Cross Committee at District and Sector level, Volunteers and Beneficiaries. This can be implemented through Steering committee meetings and joint evaluation sessions.
  • Ensure that all the involved Red Cross volunteers receive appropriate orientations of the projects plans and strategies of implementation.
  • Review the quality of the work completed by the Red Cross volunteers and sector/cell focal point to ensure that it meets the established standards.

Education qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Production;


Knowledge, skills and abilities of the two (2) assistants project coordinators

  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in the domain of study;
  • Computer literacy: Demonstrated proficiency using: Ms. Word, Excel, Power Point and internet skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal;
  • Self-motivated to respond to the needs of vulnerable people;
  • Fluent in Kinyarwanda and French or English
  • Solid organizational skills and multi-tasking skills,
  • Hold a driving license category A
