Graphics Design Associate (National Specialist) at UN Volunteers (UNFPA): (Deadline 16 September 2020)

Within the terms of the organization’s delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the National Officer Communications and Resource Mobilization, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the overall UNFPA Country Office Communications Strategy, with particular focus on the digital communication, designs of advocacy materials, among which are:
  • Preparing the design of documents, newsletters, brochures, flyers, invitations, posters, Creative infographics that reflect UNFPA results.
  • Plan with program units to identify which projects and results to highlight
  • Produce creative advocacy designs
  • Support and lead the design process of reports and presentations for printing, electronic distribution and live delivery.
  • Design invitation for events with images and other related materials.
  • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, web and interactive presentations.
  • Deliver creative graphic and technical solutions for use of new media; Layout and design of power-point presentations as needed.
  • Provide design inputs for presentations for all units on an ad-hoc basis
  • Assist with design of social media assets on a daily basis.
  • Input into proposals and pitch presentations for units.
  • Input into the development of donor communication materials.
  • The videographer/photographer will work with all units and partners to develop the various products within stipulated budgets and within set deadlines.
  • Ensure photo and video coverage of all UNFPA events and field activities and shoot video footages.
  • Assist in establishing and be responsible for maintaining a photo and video archive
  • Deliver High quality footage for broadcast or non-broadcast production
  • Deliver High-quality photos that can be re-produced in print, multi-media and online formats.
  • Prepare photos and videos for social media use.
  • Produce materials for websites and TV including short documentaries, interviews, animation, coverage, etc.
  • Conduct thematic interviews with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders linked to the project.
  • Contribute actively to joint Communications initiatives, including for the joint UN and Regional communications materials
  • Perform any other task as may be required;
  • Set aside dedicated time for capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training while working with national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs).

University degree or Advanced Diploma in Communication; with work experience in the communication or development area.

The incumbent must be a dynamic, multi-functional person, who supports UNFPA with professionalism, dedication and client orientation. The following qualifications are required:

  • University degree or Advanced Diploma in Communication or relevant qualification; with work experience in the communication or development area.
  • Three years progressively responsible professional work experience in communication and creative designs preferably in a development context.
  • Excellent drafting skills, with experience in advocacy or promotion. Convey messages in a very simple, yet inspiring way
  • Fully proficient in English and Kinyarwanda. Working knowledge of French would be an advantage
  • Be capable of taking initiative and cope under pressure.
  • Be fully proficient in Microsoft Office and Web Design Software
  • Be organized, have leadership qualities and be a team player.
  • Excellent skills in photography and video editing.
  • Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Social Media Associate (National Specialist) at UN Volunteers (UNFPA): (Deadline 16 September 2020)

Within the terms of the organization’s delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the National Officer Communications and Resource Mobilization Analyst, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Develop a social media strategy for the Country Office;
  • Continuously monitor the social media environment, identify opportunities and develop ideas for engagement;
  • Manage and analyse the state of the UNFPA website, Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube channel
  • Manage social media networks to monitor discussions with UNFPA and topics pertaining to UNFPA’s mandate and activities
  • Work closely with UNFPA Programme Units to use social networks within their program;
  • Produce content, manage discussions and Evaluate the social media accounts/page performance
  • Draft posts for different accounts and prepare engaging social media packages for International days, Specific events and other occasions, targeting different audiences, including donors
  • Coordinate the development of creative, innovative and engaging audio-visual content for use on social media, including video and infographics/data visualisation with the Graphic Designer.
  • Coordinate social media content and messages with partner organizations;
  • Monitor and analyse social media user data and make proposals for adjustments, as necessary
  • Coach colleagues on use of personal social media accounts, in line with UNFPA policy

Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist ( International Specialist) at UN Volunteers (UNFPA): (Deadline 16 September 2020)

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Lead the development of the M&E Strategy for UNFPA’s KOICA-funded project in close consultation with the UNFPA Project Coordinator and the Programme team;
  • Provide quality assurance of project documents through review of results frameworks in order to meet SMART criteria;
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of the project’s baseline and rapid assessment studies to inform the start of the KOICA-funded project;
  • Manage the development of monitoring indicators, monitoring calendars, and field monitoring plans and quality assurance processes; ensure use of relevant evaluation findings, conclusions and recommendations are incorporated to programme formulation;
  • Support planning process, annual work plan development, monitoring, reviews and reporting;
  • Ensure linkage of the project’s Annual Work Plans and corresponding M&E Plans with the UNFPA Country Programme and with the donor’s Strategic Plan.
  • Design and utilize data collection tools including surveys;
  • Manage the creation, updating and maintaining document repositories for monitoring and evaluation;
  • Prepare inputs for project reports and communications; including generation of knowledge products
  • Provide technical support to the project’s implementing partners, stakeholders to take ownership of programme outcomes through participation in analysis and produce conclusions, recommendations, lessons and good practices on a regular basis;
  • In collaboration with the KMCO and Project Coordinator, provide relevant training to team, national implementing partners and stakeholders in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Support the project Coordinator in the organization of meetings, workshops, seminars and training events on M&E matters.
  • Support liaison with the KOICA Rwanda CO on technical M&E matters.
 Master degree or equivalent

University degree, preferably a master’s degree in social sciences, public health, economics, business administration, project management, development planning, evaluation, statistics, demography/population studies, data analysis, or other relevant disciplines.

  • Five years of demonstrated experience in programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, ideally in the Public Health / Sexual and Reproductive Health field.
  • Demonstrated experience at the national or international level in project cycle management including project design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects required.
  • Experience in research, design and conduct of key studies, project evaluation and planning of large-scale assessments required.
  • Practical experience (at least 3 years) in the area of results-based management (RBM), monitoring and evaluation, statistics and/or research methodologies;
  • Experience in handling of web-based management systems (required);
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Proficiency in Excel (required);
  • Familiarity with Qualitative and Quantitative software (e.g. SPSS, Stata, etc) would be asset;
  • Excellent writing and communications skills.
