World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programs in 30 Districts of Rwanda. This is done through programming in Resilience and Livelihoods, WASH and Health, Child Protection, and Education.

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a qualified, dedicated, and experienced Rwandan national for the role of Livelihood and Education Officer, joining an established and experienced team. This position will be based in Gashora ETM – Bugesera District and reports to the Emergency Transit Mechanism Coordinator. 

JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of Emergency Transit Mechanism Coordinator, The Livelihood and Education Officer, is responsible for the daily technical planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of all livelihood and education activities in GASHORA ETM, to ensure the effective implementation and sustainability of the project by keeping the standards agreed with WVI ministry policies. He/she will facilitate the implementation of Livelihood and Education activities to improve the well-being of evacuees in GASHORA ETM and host community members by ensuring that project operations are effective and efficiently implemented.

Planning of livelihood and education activities, initiating yearly plans following the set project log frame and allocating funds; and ensuring that all planned activities are done within the stipulated time, and budget and the beneficiary targets are reached.

Identify and analyze livelihood and education gaps, views, feelings, and needs of the population in GASHORA ETM to propose/design possible solutions in line with the project log frame, and inform and document the anomalies and the challenges carried out during the implementation phase of the project.

Engage in the preparation, designing, and contextualization of appropriate guidelines, training manuals and standards, educational materials, and promotional tools for Livelihood and Education activities in GASHORA ETM.

Promote major cross-cutting themes including environment, gender, protection, disability, peacebuilding, and Christian commitment to ensure that all children and families are participating and benefiting from Project interventions.

10%

Coordinate with local authorities from GASHORA Sector to identify host community members to be enrolled in vocational skills courses and Assist/support communities to organize themselves for project participation and decision-making, provide technical support, training, and advice to strengthen Livelihood and Education activities within GASHORA ETM.

Assist in monitoring & evaluation and reporting of Livelihood and education activities from the implementation area, capturing the data required for reporting and documenting success stories, innovations, and best practices.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • A good understanding of the humanitarian and emergency sector;
  • Experience with 3 years in Livelihood and education projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Must be willing to spend long hours in the field;
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi – culture setting.
  • Other NGO experience will be also an asset;

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated, and experienced Rwandan national for the role of WASH Engineer, joining an established and experienced team. This stimulating position incorporates a range of skills and development in multiple areas, allowing for an exciting opportunity for career growth in a dynamic, global organization. It will be based in Nkamira ETM – Rubavu District and reports to the WASH Project Manager. 

NB: This is a fixed term contract ending by December 2023 with possibility of renewal.

JOB PURPOSE

The WASH engineer will supervise, conduct design & studies and review water resource, sanitation and hygiene development projects. Closely follow up and ensure the implementation of water resource development projects are in line with the plan, design, available standards, and community needs.

The job holder is responsible for the overall WASH projects operations and avail the engineering drawings for related WASH facilities to be implemented.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

Conduct close field supervision to ensure that the implementation of WASH facilities are in line with the plan, design, available standards, community needs and donors requirement; and ensure good functionality of WASH facilities and services in the camp

Prepare bill of quantities, specification and cost estimate for water resources, sanitation , education and hygiene facilities in the camp

Review and verify engineering estimations and payment certificates for construction projects being implemented in the camp; and review tender documents for both design & construction for WASH facilities

Review and conduct detail investigation on water resource development projects sites around the camp; and perform water resources development studies and conduct design review as required

Work in collaboration with other implementing  partners and donors to design  and ensure maintenance/repair of WASH facilities

Ensure that resources assigned to him / her are properly and efficiently utilized;

Review MoU and construction agreements in accordance with the policy of the organization

Reporting monthly, quarterly and annually of the project implementation progress

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
