Job Summary
The Economist is responsible for conducting policy-oriented research, producing and presenting various economic reports and policy briefs
Key duties and responsibilities
-
To conduct high-quality, policy-oriented macro and micro-economic assessments;
-
To actively participate in regular production of the Bank’s occasional and working papers that are the main avenues for the dissemination of the research findings;
-
To actively participate in the organization of various research events;
-
To actively participate in the design, review and implementation of research policy;
-
To actively participate in macroeconomic modelling and forecasting activities;
-
To actively participate in the formulation and implementation of the Rwanda Macroeconomic Framework aimed at determining the medium-term path of the Rwandan economy.

To actively participate in the design and implementation of internal and external capacity building programmes
Education and Experience Requirements

Accountant, Senior Officer Financial Reporting at NATIONAL BANK OF RWANDA: (Deadline 7 November 2020)
Job Summary
Accountant, Senior Officer Financial Reporting is charged with Financial Reporting and related efficiency activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports as per the IFRS framework; and
-
Assist in coordination of the Internal and External Audit engagements of the Bank.
-
Assist in ensuring that the department maintains compliance with the Quality
-
Management System (QMS ISO 9001: 2015) standard against which the Bank is certified.
-
Manage the maintenance of the Bank’s chart of accounts and scheme of accounting;
-
Assist in the preparation of reports that reflect the Bank’s financial standing which aid in creating budgets and other decisions in the Bank;
-
Ensuring that the Bank’s General ledger and related sub-ledgers are monitored for quality Assurance;
-
Perform review tasks for tax and other statutory deduction performed by the Bank;
-
Ability to share knowledge experience in Finance and accounting discipline in building the finance team knowledge is expected;
-
Understanding overall enterprise risk and its impact on the Banks financial data is encouraged;
o Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Academic and Experience Requirements

At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field and
-
Professional qualifications in ACCA and/ or CPA, or a related field is a must.

Prior 2 years’ in Banking Finance environment and/or Audit experience will be an added advantage.

Understanding of Oracle General ledger is an added advantage
-
Experience in data analytics while handling large volumes of data is expected.

Officer,Vault Operations at NATIONAL BANK OF RWANDA: (Deadline 7 November 2020)
Job Summary
Reporting to the manager currency, the jobholder is responsible for proper management of money kept in our main vaults managed under currency management division
Key duties and Responsibilities
-
Ensure proper accountability of money kept in vaults
-
Initiate daily report of vault transactions ; and related General Ledger
-
Support to maintenance of proper storage of money; money should be kept orderly and in good condition
-
Ensure proper maintenance of books of accounts as far as vaults transactions are concerned
-
Initiate and maintain proper vaults paperwork and inventory records
-
Ensure proper management of opening and closing of vaults in accordance with NBR currency and security procedures
-
Participate in the efficient management of NBR commemorative items
-
Ensure the operation is functioning efficiently and in accordance with the currency management standard and procedure
-
Work closely with the cash operations sub division for proper planning of cash in and cash out
-
Ensure that all exceptions are reported to the direct supervisor timely; and notify the senior officer vault operations and the currency manager of any safety or security concerns

Officer,Data Scientist at NATIONAL BANK OF RWANDA: (Deadline 7 November 2020)
Job Summary
This role will be responsible of cleaning raw data that contains human, machine or instrument errors and develop data set processes for data production, mining and modeling. Jobholders will need to leverage large volumes of data (structured and unstructured) from internal and external sources to answer business needs of the bank and of key stakeholders. In addition, they will build analytics programs, machine learning, and statistical methods for predictive and prescriptive modeling; develop visualization and dashboards to communicate the results.
Key duties and responsibilities
-
Data cleansing – identifying, assessing and resolving any data quality issues, develop, and execute data cleanup measures.
-
Evaluate large dataset for quality and accuracy and work with ICT staff to correct data quality errors
-
Determine root cause for data quality errors and make recommendations for long-term solutions.
-
Extract data from a variety of relational databases, manipulate, explore data using quantitative, statistical and visualization tools.
-
Inform the selection of appropriate modeling techniques to ensure that predictive models are developed using rigorous statistical processes.
-
Establish and maintain effective processes for validating and updating predictive models.
-
Analyze, model, and forecast economic patterns/ trends and create the capability to model outcomes of what-if scenarios for novel in economic patterns.
-
Help manage the innovation cycle of conducting analyses, generating insights, advocating for the integration of new concepts into existing tools, helping to translate ad-hoc analyses into scalable solutions.
-
Drives complex analytics projects that require multiple-team collaboration within departments or stakeholders from beginning to end.
-
Build algorithms, predictive models and dashboards that get deployed in the form of products, policy or scientific research.
Education and Experience Requirements
-
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, electronics engineering, or quantitative field with 2 years of experience.
-
Proficiency in review, analysis and management of large volumes of data using programming languages as Python, R, MATLAB, Tableau and others.
-
Understanding of big data tools, methodology and techniques.
-
Familiarity with analytical techniques in text mining, sentiment analysis, machine learning, deep learning, predictive analysis, event detection and modeling of complex systems.
-
Programming and database skills in any of the following languages/technologies is a plus: JAVA Script, C/C++/C#, SQL, .NET, Python-NLTK, TensorFlow, etc.
