This person will provide expert advice, coordinate advisory trajectories with clients, and have an advisory and broker role in the closing of business deals aimed at building well-organized and operational cooperatives and farmers’ organizations. In order to achieve this, the successful candidate will initiate and maintain a network that will include cooperatives and farmers’ organizations, financial institutions, traders, service providers and other stakeholders in the value chain. He/she will initiate and guide change trajectories with clients and will lobby, mediate and support negotiation processes, as well as prepare business deals. Duties

 

Provide effective business advisory services to business-oriented farmer cooperatives.
Assess the functioning of farmer cooperatives.
Codesign action plans with cooperatives and follow-up on the implementation of these action plans.
Facilitate Agriterra’s state-of-the-art cooperative trainings;
Investigate opportunities to finance business plans of cooperatives, support the establishment of contacts and negotiate business agreements with banks, investors and other financiers (governments and the business sector).
Help develop financially sustainable structures within cooperatives and farmers’ organizations to enhance their service provision and agricultural extension to their members.
Provide clients with guidance relating to change trajectories, to promote the interests of farmers, associations and cooperatives, with the authorities of the relevant developing countries.
Collect and systematise information about clients and advisory processes, such as financial reports and annual overviews.
Build expertise in a specific area of interest (for example, governance or financial management) and/or on a specific subject or subject of current interest, with a focus on product development, in which he/she will act as the expert point of reference, both within and outside the organization.

 

 

Profile

 

 

Master’s candidate in Agriculture and Applied Economics or a similar field.
Certified as ILO MyCoop trainer.
Experience as a business advisor for business-oriented farmer cooperatives.
Extensive experience in and knowledge of one or more of the fields in which Agriterra achieves results, such as cooperative business development, market chain development, agricultural service provision, entrepreneurship, governance, and financial management.
Extensive relevant practical knowledge and experience in the horticulture value chain.
Extensive relevant practical knowledge and experience in the rice value chain.
governance structures, financial management, and business operations;
Able to analyze financial statements;
High level of proficiency in Kinyarwanda, English, and French.
Enthusiastic focused on results and service, and with adequate advisory or training skills.

Finance And Administration Officer (m/f)

 

Location: Kigali

 

As a finance and administration officer, you are responsible for efficient en effective running of the logistics and administrative operations of Agriterra Rwanda. This includes the efficient handling of the financial and human resources administration in order to contribute to the organization objectives. Hence you will support the business advisory team with hands-on business advisory services to business-oriented farmer cooperatives.

 

 

Duties finance

 

Monitor all financial transactions for Agriterra Rwanda.
Ensure prompt payment of invoices.
Monitor all invoices and payments to contractors to ensure compliance to contracts and reconciliation of payments vs budgets.
Quality checks all financial transactions to ensure proper coding and recording.
Administer the staff payroll system and file all Agriterra Rwanda’s statutory returns with relevant government ministries and agencies.
With the support of the team and country representative, develop quarterly cash flow projections for submission to the team and HQs.
With the support of the team and country, representative prepares monthly/Quarterly/annually financial statements for the organization.
Support the team in the development and submission of country financial metrics.
Work with the team in budget preparation for new projects/missions/events.
Develop and run ad-hoc reports as required.
Any other financial activities which are “in line off” the previous mentioned ones.

 

 

 

Duties administration

 

 

Organize the logistic preparations for missions, events and client visits. This includes arranging transport and accommodation for staff and visitors and negotiating competitive rates when organizing events.
Assist the team with contract preparations and development in close coordination with the concerned business advisors and country representative
Support in keeping the Agriterra Information Network up to date, generate needed overviews to keep the team planning on track.
Facilitate MyCoop trainings;
Maintain an up to date Human Resources file.
Where needed to develop and maintain a good digital and manual filing system.
Responsible for the organization IT resources.
Maintain an up to date record on the organization insurances.
Ensure that the procedures of procurement are well observed by the organization
Any other administrative activities which are in line with the previous mentioned ones.

 

Profile

 

 

Bachelor candidate in Finance, Administration, Agribusiness or a similar field.
Certified as ILO MyCoop trainer;
Experienced in using Agro Info Net as a management information system for farmer organizations and agri-agencies.
Experienced in using Sharepoint as software.
Experienced in planning and preparing for large scale coffee events
High level of proficiency in Kinyarwanda, English, and French.
