Job Description
School Nurse (1)
a) Salary scale & residence:
• Open contract with an attractive net salary per month among other social benefits;
• Required to reside at Rwanda Coding Academy, Nyabihu District.
Duties and responsibilities:
? Develop plans for student care;
? Provide health
– related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings;
? Monitor immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety;
? Oversee infection control measures;
? Actively participate in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school;
? Oversee medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans;
? Oversee vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures;
? Provide health advice to students and school staff;
? Fill client file and register book for each patient who comes in for a consultation
? Interview patients to obtain information that will guide diagnosis with though physical examination of the patient while in consultation;
? Write all lab exams and findings in the patient file and in a register book;
? Prescribe treatment for the patient consulted with extra attention on doses and side effects;
? Make the decision on which patient can be referred to the medical doctor;
? Make sure the consultation activities start by the scheduled time and finish when the last patient is consulted;
? Perform PIT (Provider
– initiated Testing) when it is necessary, and report all HIV
– positive cases to HIV Program;
? Maintain medical materials and equipment;
? Coordinate with other health staff on self
– assessment of clinical skills and challenges.
? Perform recordkeeping procedures when registering patients according to health center protocols;
? Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
? Follow up on patients that he/she has consulted and hospitalized.
? Undertake any other job
– related duties; all geared towards ensuring the school has healthy staff and students.

a)Minimum qualification & competencies for School Nurse:
?A0 in General Nursing or Clinical Medicine and Community Health
?Having minimum of 3 years of practical experience as school nurse or similar job;
