– Conduct research in meat/milk microbiology in accordance to the existing work plan and available resources.

Reporting to the Banana Program Coordinator Senior Principal Research, the Banana Agronomy and Physiology Associate Research Fellow has the following responsibilities:

-Conduct research for sustainable cropping systems for different agro ecologies to improve banana yields and nutrient uptake under conditions of increased climate variability (increased water stress), limited resource use and interactions with other crops within the cropping system and for different banana varieties (in collaboration with banana breeder) + interactions with other factors (soils, cropping systems, pests/diseases);
-Develop and disseminate agronomic packages for sustainable and intensive banana production;
-Write and publish scientific papers;

Reporting to the Horticulture Program Coordinator Senior Research Fellow, the Vegetable Pathologist Associate Research Fellow has the following responsibilities:

– Conduct research on diseases of vegetable crops and decay of vegetable crops’ products;
– Tests possible control measures for diseases of vegetable crops and vegetable crops’ products decay under laboratory and field conditions for comparative effectiveness, practicality, and economy.
– Investigates comparative susceptibility of different varieties of vegetable crops and develops varieties immune to disease;
– Studies rates of spread and intensity of vegetable crop disease under different conditions of soil, climate, and geography, and predicts outbreaks of plant diseases.
– Determines kinds of plants and insects that harbor or are likely to transmit disease to vegetable crops.
– Study losses inflicted by diseases of vegetable crops in field or after harvest and develop practices to prevent or reduce these losses.
