Job description
– Report to the ruminant program coordinator
– Coordinate the development and implementation of participatory research in ruminant physiology, reproduction and breeding
– Coordinate the monitoring and evaluation of ruminant physiology, reproduction and breeding activities;
– Ensure mentorship for junior scientists in conception, planning, monitoring and evaluation of ruminant physiology, reproduction and breeding research projects;
– Ensure partnership with national, regional and international stakeholders on the improvement and development of ruminant physiology and reproduction technologies and innovations;
– Develop, Implement and monitor national cattle breeding centers;
– Participate in monitoring and evaluation of disseminated technologies towards improved ruminant physiology, reproduction, genetics and breeding;
– Ensure systems approach to research planning, and evaluation;
– Analyze, publish and disseminate research findings;
– Produce quarter and annual reports

Having authored as first author at least five (5) scientific publications and seven (7) publications as a co-author in refereed journal

Having led the writing and won at least one (1) project in animal resources development

Being conversant with national and sector policies and development agenda

Proven experience to work with farmers and industry stakeholders in research and extension

Capacity in project development and resources mobilization

Detailed knowledge of animal sciences research areas and agenda

Knowledge of statistical packages for data analysis and report production

Extensive understanding of the National and International context of Research
