Hong Kong Baptist University Outstanding Student Leaders Awards 2023-2024: (Deadline 13 February, 2024)

Aiming at recognising students’ distinctive leadership and all-rounded achievements, encouraging students’ whole-person development, as well as erecting role models for potential student leaders to learn from, the University has established the “HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Awards” since 2012-13. For the 2023-24 academic year, up to twelve awards of HK$5,000 each are available.

Aim and Benefits of HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Award

Recipients of the Awards are obliged to:
(a) serve in the organising committee for the 2023-24 Donor Appreciation Reception on 30 May 2024 (need to attend meetings and give input during March to May 2024), and attend the event as a Scholarship Ambassador;
(b) give sharing through presentations, writings, exhibitions, etc., upon invitation;
(c) be the role models of HKBU and help promote the University’s image.

Requirements for HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Award Qualification

ELIGIBILITY:

The awards shall be awarded to full-time year 2 or above undergraduate students of UGC-funded programmes in any disciplines who have:
(a) satisfactory academic performance (cumulative GPA of 2.80 or above);
(b) good attitude and communication skills;
(c) strong leadership qualities as demonstrated in extra-curricular activities;
(d) outstanding record of services/contributions in the university or/and community.

Students who received the HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Awards in previous years are not eligible to apply.

Interview date, Process and Venue for HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Award

After internal vetting, shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the selection interview in late February 2024. The selection results will be announced by mid-March 2024.

**Students who are not able to attend the interview and Donor Appreciation Reception 2024 in person due to overseas exchange or placement should NOT apply.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified? Go to Hong Kong Baptist University on sa.hkbu.edu.hk to applyApplicants should complete the online application form at https://sa.hkbu.edu.hk/portal/lqc/forms/olsa_202324.php.  Each student can submit the application form once only. Once the form is submitted, no modifications can be made.

Upon form submission, an auto-email will be sent to the applicants. Applicants should then follow the below instructions to submit relevant supporting documents (i.e. proofs of participation in extra-curricular activities/community services and certificates of award) to the SFA Unit at or before the application deadline on 13 February 2024 (Tuesday).

(1) Scan your documentary proofs as ONE (1) PDF file, and arrange them in proper order. Make sure they are clear and legible. Any parts that are missing, unclear, and incomprehensible will NOT be considered. Try to keep the PDF file size under 15MB. You may not need to scan the documents in the highest/best quality if standard quality suffices.

(2)Name your PDF file in the format of “OSLA_student ID_full name” (e.g. OSLA_22201111_Chan Tai Man). We may not be able to identify your submission if you do not name your file as instructed.

(3) Login to our “Documents Upload Platform” at https://sfa.hkbu.edu.hk/supporting_docs/ with your SSOid. Choose and click “HKBU Outstanding Student Leaders Awards” in the menu to upload the documents. We will NOT be able to receive your documents if you choose another scheme, so please click the scheme name carefully. You will receive an auto-email from the system upon successful upload of your PDF file.

The “Documents Upload Platform” will close automatically at 11:59pm of 13 February 2024 (Tuesday). To avoid last-minute rush/unexpected technical errors/difficulties that may require extra time to solve, you are advised to prepare and upload your PDF file as early as possible before the deadline. Note that the submission time is subject to our system’s clock on the website, which may or may not be the same as your watch, and the Office of Student Affairs has the discretion to make final judgments on whether the application is considered late.

You may print out your SLES achievement portfolio (https://sles.hkbu.edu.hk/) as supporting proofs for HKBU internal activities/ service/ scholarships. Copies of certificates, letters, name cards, emails, magazines, webpages, newspaper clippings and/or other documents that have (1) your name, (2) the position held and (3) the organization name can be used as the supporting documents for your activities/ services if they do not appear on your SLES record. However, please highlight the relevant information on the documents for easy identification. Note that activities/services listed on the form but without proofs will NOT be counted.

Partial submissions/late applications will NOT be considered. You should ONLY attach relevant supporting documents with your application form. Form submission via hardcopy or email is not accepted.
