Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship 2024 For Senior and Mid Career Journalists (Funded) Deadline: 21 February 2024
Opportunity Description
For senior and mid-career journalists who want to enhance their reporting on violence, conflict, and tragedy while also expanding their understanding of emotional trauma and psychological injury, the Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship is a special seminar program.
It can be extremely difficult to report on traumatic events in a responsible and credible manner. Examples of such events include family violence and street crime, natural disasters and accidents, war and genocide, pandemics, and social upheaval. Outstanding journalists from all over the world have gathered at the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism project, since 1999 to discuss important topics pertaining to news coverage of violence, trauma, and tragedy.
Fellows participate in a rigorous week-long seminar program at New York City’s Columbia University. Program activities include talks with colleagues in the media about ethics, craft, and practice; briefings by well-known interdisciplinary experts in the fields of trauma and mental health; and numerous other chances for scholarly interaction and peer education.
