AKI’s Africa-Based Animal Welfare Organization Grant Program 2024: (Deadline: 21 June, 2024)
The Animal-Kind International is inviting applications for the Africa-Based Animal Welfare Organization Grant Program.
AKI’s 7th annual grant program, is intended to assist worthy Africa-based organizations, beyond the Partner Organizations, capable of implementing high impact projects aimed at improving the lives of domestic animals. AKI will only consider funding for:
- Projects that benefit cats, dogs, donkeys, and/or horses (secondarily, they will consider projects that benefit cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, and pigs).
- Existing animal welfare organizations based in Africa that have been operating in the animal welfare sector for at least three years.
- Organizations that are currently and actively engaged in their communities to improve the lives of animals.
- Projects that can be completed within six months of receipt of funds.
- Projects that demonstrate sustainability and that give assurance the impact will continue beyond the grant period.
Funding Information
- For previous grantees who have successfully completed their AKI-funded grant, the budget ceiling is US$3000.
- For those who have not received an AKI grant previously, the ceiling is US$2000.
- However, they have a limited budget for the grant program, and they want to award as many grants as possible, so please keep that in mind when developing your proposal and budget. Rather than submitting a budget for the maximum amount, submit a cost-effective and impactful proposal and then budget for that.
- All grant projects must be completed within six months from receipt of grant funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- Animal welfare organizations that are based in Africa, have been operating for at least three years in the animal welfare sector in Africa, and whose main goal is to improve the lives of domestic animals in their community, are eligible to apply. They must be registered in their country of operation as an NGO, charity, non-profit, or similar organization. Universities, churches, church groups, 501(c)(3) organizations, organizations working under a 501(c)(3) umbrella or with an “arm” outside of Africa are not eligible.
- They accept photos only, but they should be specific to the proposed project, and they must be well-labelled and sent as jpeg email attachments. Photos are not a substitute for a well-conceived, written proposal and should be used only to support the written application.
- Previous grantees are free to apply each year as long as they have successfully completed their previous grant activities and reporting in a timely manner.
Deadline: 21-June, 2024
