Summary of Position
The Quality Control Assistant is responsible for maintaining the quality and safety of feed products throughout the production process. They also support the resolution of customer complaints, ensure adherence to factory sanitation and hygiene standards, and contribute ideas to enhance productivity and performance.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities
- Assist in Identifying critical control points and ensure critical control measures comply all the times.
- Collection, labelling and appropriate storage of feed and Raw Materials samples
- Analyse all ranges of samples including raw materials and finished feed products and keep organised records.
- Assist in Submitting samples to the external laboratory and do proper follow-up
- Recording and reporting of results promptly and relay this information to the production team
- Brainstorm ideas to increase productivity and performance of the production line while maintaining accuracy in quality
- Oversee production to ensure conformity in final product processing
- Assist in Handling and resolving customer complaints
- Ensure factory sanitation and good hygiene practices are met all the time.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor/ his Designate
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Biotechnology, Bio-Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience in quality control within a production or processing environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry-specific quality standards and processes, particularly in the feed/food sector.
- Strong understanding of Rwanda’s Quality Infrastructure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of market trends and industry conditions.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2018 Quality Management System (QMS).
- Proficient in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
- Comprehensive knowledge in Product Data Management.
Language Proficiency
Fluency in written and spoken English and Kinyarwanda.
Functional competencies
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Ability to conduct data collection using various methods.
- Excellent analytical skills for the review and assessments of sites situations
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), database applications, spreadsheet and graphics presentations
- Takes responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives and ensuring the equal participation of women and men in all areas of work.
