BBC World Service Languages Future Voices Program 2025 (Deadline: Ongoing)
Are you at the beginning of your career and have what it takes to be a journalist at the BBC? Are you a person with a disability, a fluent speaker of English and any one of these World Service languages; French, Gahuza Swahili, Portuguese, Arabic, Amharic, Tigrinya, Oromo, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Tamasheq, Dzarma, Kikuyu, Kalenjin, Spanish, Malagasy or Dholuo?
BBC World Service Languages is seeking talented, people with a disability to join their Future Voices trainee scheme. This a four-month entry level paid program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in journalism and kickstart your career at one of the world’s leading broadcasters.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:
- Be registered as a person with a disability with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.
- Be aged 18 or over when the scheme starts in April 2025.
- Be legally allowed to work in Kenya full time
- Be fluent in English and one of the languages listed.
- Be available from April – July 2025.

Application
You will need to upload a CV but the main thing they are looking for is passion. Once you begin your application you will need to answer the eligibility questions. This will be followed up via email with a series of questions to understand your interest in journalism and creating content. You should be ready to:
- Submit a news story idea
- Answer a few questions via video recording based on your motivations for applying and your passion for this area. This will be requested in both English and your second language.
- Share at least one item of journalistic content you’ve created – this could be a social media post or something published on a digital platform, in print, TV, radio or podcast.
