
Call for Papers: AI in Society – Oxford Intersections 2025: (Deadline 1 March, 2025)
Are you interested in AI’s social impacts in the majority world? Here is your opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking publication that influences policy and decision-making worldwide. This year, Oxford University Press will be launching a new type of resource: Oxford Intersections. Oxford Intersections reflects the critical role that peer-reviewed interdisciplinary research plays in helping policy- and decision-makers tackle the world’s most complex and urgent environmental, cultural, political, and social challenges.
They invite abstracts for new interdisciplinary research articles on a range of topics related to AI in the Majority World for the AI in Society Intersection. Specifically, they seek articles on the following topics:
- AI applications and their social impacts in the majority world, including AI and Global Health; AI, Agriculture, and Food Security; AI and Education; AI and Labour; AI and Regional Trade and Investment; AI and sustainability; the impacts of Generative AI; AI and Social Protection; scaling AI in low-resourced contexts.
- AI governance and ethics in the majority world, including AI Ethics and Development; AI and epistemic justice; AI Governance and the Developmental State; investigating global value chains.
- Gender and inclusion in AI, including AI and inequality; AI, gender inclusion, and women’s empowerment; women in AI leadership; AI and Financial Inclusion; inclusive critical digital literacy.
Eligibility
- Oxford Intersections welcomes contributors from diverse backgrounds, spanning disciplines, institutions, geographies, and career stages.
- Authors may include researchers, academics, professionals, practitioners, PhD students, and on occasion final-year master’s students.
Deadline: 1 March, 2025

Submission Guidelines
- Manuscripts should be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
- If accepted, articles should run between 5-8K words and will be rigorously peer reviewed before publication.
