The Graça Machel Trust (GMT) is seeking a dedicated Programme Coordinator to support the coordination and implementation of the Pan African Adolescent Girls’ Movement. This initiative empowers adolescent girls across Africa to drive social change and lead the continent’s transformation.

About the Programme

The Pan African Adolescent Girls’ Movement was launched to amplify the voices of African girls and help them overcome societal barriers to development. Since its inception, the initiative has established eight “nests” in six countries: Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, and Mozambique.

With the goal of reaching 2.5 million girls by 2026 and 10 million by 2030, the program focuses on leadership development, self-actualization, and fostering social capital among adolescent girls aged 10-24.

The movement programme objectives are:

  • To ensure that adolescent girls are equipped to effect change at the individual and community levels.
  • To cultivate an environment that enables adolescents to influence decisions, policies, and actions that shape their well-being and future.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Program Support

  • Manage program implementation across various countries and regions
  • Organize hybrid workshops, events, and training sessions
  • Liaise with participants and local partners to ensure effective engagement
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for all program activities

 Communications Support

  • Create social media content and promotional materials
  • Manage  communication channels and share impactful stories from participants
  • Assist with drafting reports and event materials

Digital Learning Management System (LMS) Support

  • Upload and organize curriculum content on the digital platform
  • Provide technical support and track learners’ progress
  • Integrate interactive learning materials to enhance engagement

Stakeholder and Partner Engagement

  • Foster relationships with local partners and allies supporting adolescent initiatives
  • Coordinate activities across various nests and regions
  • Assist with reporting for partnerships and funding opportunities

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on program participation and impact
  • Develop reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Generate insights to improve program effectiveness

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Education, International Development, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in program coordination, youth development, or digital learning management
  • Familiarity with adolescent empowerment, gender advocacy, and rights-based programming
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms
  • Experience using digital Learning Management Systems (LMS) or willingness to learn.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience coordinating hybrid events using virtual tools like Zoom or Google Meet
  • Basic graphic design skills using tools such as Canva or Adobe
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of spoken and written French is an advantage.
