TERMS OF REFERENCE (TOR) FOR HIRING A DRONE PILOT
Background
Locus Dynamics Ltd. is seeking a qualified and experienced Drone Pilot to support its aerial operations, including topographic surveys, aerial mapping, surveillance, Data post processing and other drone-related tasks. The selected candidate will operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in compliance with aviation regulations and project-specific requirements.
Scope of Work
The Drone Pilot will be responsible for:
- Flight Operations: Conducting drone flights for mapping, surveillance, and data collection as per project needs.
- Pre-flight & Post-flight Checks: Ensuring drones are fully functional, calibrated, and in compliance with safety standards.
- Data Collection & Processing: Capturing, analysing, and reporting aerial imagery and LiDAR data.
- Adhering to Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) and international UAV regulations.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Performing routine checks, maintenance, and minor repairs on drones.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Working closely with engineers, surveyors, and project teams to ensure successful mission execution.
- Project proposal writing
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate must have:
- A valid drone pilot license recognized by the RCAA or an equivalent regulatory body.
- Proven experience in aerial mapping, photogrammetry, and LiDAR surveys.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., Pix4D, ArcGIS, Agisoft Metashape, or similar).
- Knowledge of drone regulations, airspace management, and safety protocols.
- Experience with fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to drone operations.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- A bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, etc.).
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and challenging terrains while ensuring safety and optimal performance.
Duration and Location
The contract will be for given a open ended contract after a probationary period and the place of work will be at HQ offices located at Gishushu but with possible travel to field sites as required.
