Field of Activity
The project “Capacity Development for the Implementation of Rwanda’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)” is implemented by GIZ Rwanda as part of the Rwandan-German Climate and Development Partnership. The project aims to improve the institutional and financial framework conditions for governmental and non-governmental actors in Rwanda to coordinate, implement, finance, and monitor the national climate goals (NDCs). The project offers technical support, policy advice, and capacity development measures for the Ministry of Environment, other ministries, the private sector, civil society organizations, as well as academic and research institutions – all of which play a central role in implementing the NDCs in Rwanda.
Your Tasks
During your internship, your responsibilities may include:

Supporting the implementation of the project and the operationalization of the Rwandan-German Climate and Development Partnership.

Contributing to the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of regular exchange and cooperation formats and dialogue between local actors and development partners on NDC implementation.

Supporting the design, implementation, and monitoring of project activities with various target groups (private sector, civil society, academic and research institutions, etc.).

Assisting with project monitoring, knowledge management, and reporting.

Supporting the preparation, coordination, and organization of internal and external project events such as workshops and conferences.
Your Profile

Students in at least their 4th semester with (very) good grades and a recommendation for an international internship abroad.

Excellent written and spoken English and German skills; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Practical experience in an international work context, such as in development cooperation, with a civil society organization, or in the private sector.

Strong interest in development cooperation with Africa or another Global South country, ideally with experience in an African context or similar environment.

Ability to work independently and flexibly in an intercultural team, high reliability, discretion, and motivation.

A structured way of working with strong self-organization, creativity, and excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Willingness to live and work in Kigali, Rwanda.

Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).

The monthly internship compensation is €2,205.04 (gross). Depending on the assignment country, an additional gross monthly foreign allowance is added to this amount, as determined by GIZ.
