Background.

 

In order to ensure sustainable high coverage with effective LLINs, the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) have provided financial support through VectorLink Project/Abt Associates to assist Malaria and Other Parasitic Disease Division/Rwanda Biomedical Centre (MOPDD/RBC) to strengthen the capacity for the durability monitoring of long lasting bed nets (LLINs) under field conditions of four new brands of LLINs distributed through the national mass campaign in distinctive locations. The evaluation will be carried out at annual intervals over a three-year period and will aim to identify the potential determinants which explain their levels of field performance or failure. Specifically, this monitoring will focus on the field assessment of LLINs loss in community, the physical deterioration of nets, the decay of biological and insecticidal activities of LLINs in the selected study sites. It is in this matter that VectorLink Project/Abt Associates is currently seeking qualified and motivated individuals to serve the above-mentioned position:

Position 3: Field Coordinators

Supervisor: Vector Control Unit/MOPDD/RBC

Duration: undetermined

 

Tasks and responsibilities according to the protocol of studies

Supervision of household surveys including qualitative and quantitative interviews, field collection of samples in the site assigned for;
Receives LLINs samples collected by field surveyors and site supervisors, and send to them Overall Coordinator.
Ensure recording of results on appropriate template report forms
Organize the recording of data in the database
Ensure the management of the database
Reports directly to the Overall Coordinator

 

 

Conditions and qualifications required

 

A potential candidate for the position of Field coordinators should be/have:

Rwandan by nationality;
At least a bachelor degree (A0) in Public Health, Social Sciences, Social work, Clinical Psychology, Environmental Sciences, Biology and other relevant health fields;
Work experience of not less than 2 years in health domain,
Supervision of a recognised health research or participation in LLINs durability monitoring;
Be computer literate (able to run programs such as Ms word, Excel, Access etc.,);
Ability to handle data collection tools using PDA and tablets incorporating ODK system for household surveys;
Fluency in French and English.

Tasks and responsibilities according to the protocol of the study

 

Attend the training on the Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) for DM of LLINs
The label of LLINs allocated to the distribution in the study sites
Participate in the distribution of LLINs at study sites
Participate in the mapping of baseline information
Coordinate/collaborate with the head of villages and CHWs of the study site
Obtains informed consent from eligible households
Perform LLIN household interviews and collect required samples
Enter the household survey data into the tablet record sheets
Conduct LLINs replacement according to the protocol
Complete other survey questionnaires and study forms
Participate in the LLINs follow-up surveys
Conditions and qualifications required

 

 

 

A potential candidate for the position of temporary surveyors should be/have:

 

Rwandan by nationality;
At least bachelor degree (A0) in public health, social sciences, Journalism and Communication, Biology, Business management, computer sciences or other related fields.
Work experience in household surveys and performance of not less than 3 recognized research/field surveys of infectious diseases;
Participation in LLINs (bed nets) researches/surveys is an advantage
PDA and Tablets incorporating ODK system usage skills and usage of it in at least 2 recognized surveys;
Knowledge of Kinyarwanda, English, and French

Coordinate the preparation, implementation of households surveys (qualitative and quantitative), and household sampling and survey reporting;
Receives LLINs samples collected by field surveyors and site supervisors, and then completes appropriate log books.
Prints and prepares labels for all sample storage and shipment according to protocols
Ensure recording of results on appropriate template report forms
Organize recording of data in the database
Ensure the management of the database
Ensure transportation of LLINs from field sites to the laboratory
Performs any other duty assigned by the Malaria and Other Parasitic Diseases Division
Reports directly to the VectorLink Project/Abt Associates

 

 

Conditions and qualifications required

 

A potential candidate for the position of Overall Coordinator should be/have:

Rwandan by nationality;
Possession of a Master’s degree in Public Health. Having further education in Social Sciences, Clinical Psychology and other relevant field in health sciences would be an added advantage.
Work experience of not less than 5 years in health domain,
Coordination or supervision of recognised researches related to LLINs durability monitoring, malaria vector control and other health researches;
Knowledge of at least one statistical package for data analysis (like SPSS, Epi Info, Dev Info), and be computer literate (able to run programs such as Ms word, Excel, Access);
Familiar with data collection tools using PDA and tablets incorporating ODK system;
Knowledge about planning of malaria prevention specifically LLINs distribution is very desirable.
Fluency in French and English.

A potential candidate for the position of Site Supervisor should be/have:

 

Rwandan by nationality;
At least a bachelor degree (A0) in Public Health, Social Sciences, Biology, Social work, Clinical Psychology, Environmental Sciences and other relevant natural science field;
Work experience of not less than 2 years in health domain,
Supervision of recognised health research or participation LLINs durability monitoring;
Participation in malaria researches or other infectious diseases is an advantage.
Be computer literate (able to run programs such as Ms word, Access, Excel);
Familiar with data collection tools using PDA and tablets incorporating ODK system;

An excitement experience about mobile devices and /or technology
Providing technology in store, mobile system data system, IT
Programing software based on ODKs in tablets for household surveys
Repairing to programming mobile phones and tablets
Installing questionnaires in tablets or phone for household surveys
Setting reporting database into server

Conditions and qualifications required

 

A potential candidate for the position of Mobile Expert should be/have:

 

Rwandan by nationality;
Master or Bachelor’s degree (A0) in computer science, computer programming, Networking, Computer engineering, Electronics and Communication or a similar field.
Experience in IT, programming at least for the last 2 years
Knowledge of at least 2 statistical packages for data analysis (like SPSS, Epi Info, Dev Info) and database management
PDA and tablets incorporating ODK system usage skills;
Fluency in French and English
