Building on the success of its first Centre in South Africa, AIMS launched the Next Einstein Initiative (NEI) in 2008 to scale up and roll out the AIMS model across the continent. Its global secretariat is situated in Kigali, Rwanda and it has global offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada.

Communications Officer, TTP Rwanda!
The Teacher Training Program Communications Officer will primarily be responsible for contributing to the development of the Teacher Training Program Rwanda’s internal and external communication strategy with a heavy focus on raising the profile of TTP Rwanda’s public engagement profile.
Working with the Director, Teacher Training Program Rwanda, you will be a key resource to work on AIMS Teacher Training Program corporate collateral and regularly update network branding guidelines and ensure adherence to the guidelines. You will design and create a practical and measurable communications and public engagement strategy, work with the AIMS Communications team to implement an internal strategy for AIMS TTP-Rwanda including management of newsletters, respond to the needs of the target audience, and are delivered within agreed budget and timelines and provide support to staff within the communications team as needed. You will also act in accordance with the objectives and ethos of AIMS-NEI and Mastercard Foundation Leaders in Teaching (LIT) program and undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a strong communications background combined with proven media relations experience, credentials, and capabilities; you are naturally curious and apply a journalistic approach to uncovering meaningful and engaging content; and through your years of experience, you have honed your ability to clearly articulate your thoughts, both verbally and in writing.
This is a full-time, three-year contract opportunity based at the Secretariat in Kigali, Rwanda.
Do you have what we need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications / Public Relations/Marketing/ Journalism or other related fields
- 3+ years of experience in communications or related field
- Excellent and proven writing and editing skills
- Experience planning, managing and executing successful communications campaigns
- Prior experience writing content on behalf of a large organization and/or its executives, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Understanding of social media dynamics & use for impact communication
- Ability and desire to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Bi-lingual (English/Kinyarwanda). Must be able to speak and write Kinyarwanda.
- Powerful communicator
- Effective team player: Meet deadlines, put out fires, multitask. Work fast and work well with others. Experience handling highly confidential information in a professional manner
- Issues engagement: Stay engaged in global news, trends and emerging issues
- Self-sufficient proficiency with MS Office and Internet applications

Liaison Officer, TTP Rwanda
The Teacher Training Program (TTP) Rwanda is a five-year blended (face-to-face and online) training program seeking to enhance the capacity of secondary school teachers (in-service and pre-service) in the teaching of mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics with the use of information technologies as a key component in teaching and learning. In partnership with the Government of Rwanda, the Rwanda education board (REB) and the University of Rwanda College of education (UR-CE), the program will equip teachers with skills, tools and resources to implement the competency-based curriculum (CBC) using the Mathematics and Sciences for Sub-Saharan Africa (MS4SSA) approach adopted from the World Bank.
As one of two Liaison Officers, you will work closely with school subject leaders to maintain a database of schools within the districts of responsibility and serve as the primary contact point for the program at the district level. Working hand-in-hand with the school subject specialists you will contribute to identifying needs, concerns and promptly set the right processes in place to offer effective solutions. As the first point of contact, you will you will be a key source of on-the-ground intelligence that will be used to inform special requirements, to be aware of emerging grievances or issues for relevant and timely escalation, and you will actively plan for and facilitate site visits and other learning expeditions by various program stakeholders to contribute to program enhancements. Additionally, you will organize events and activities to promote the program at the district level.
This is a full-time opportunity based in Kigali with extensive travel in rural areas of Rwanda.
Do you have what we need?
A Bachelor’s degree in education development, communication, marketing, or social sciences is required. A Master’s degree is an asset
At least 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience
Possess good communication skills both oral and written and be able to:
Act as the first contact person with the program activities and implementers
Articulate and deliver information both technical and general at the school level
Source and filter information for feeding back to the program manager, subject teachers, and other stakeholders
Collect relevant data for feedback and program outreach
Good organizational skills with experience in data collection techniques
Demonstrated ability to liaise with all stakeholders of the program for and information sharing
Have a good knowledge of the education landscape backed with knowledge of Education administration in Rwanda
Ability to quickly assimilate information specific to the program, from both a technical organization as well as school perspective
Proficient in the use of Information Technologies as demonstrated by a good knowledge of MS Office applications of Word, Excel, and Outlook
Experience working in an NGO is an added advantage
Have good coordination and negotiation skills
Possess good event and time management skills
Proficiency with MS Office, Google Apps, and Skype
Good command of the English language, a knowledge of Kinyarwanda or French is essential
Ability to tolerate working hours outside the normal work schedule

Program Management Support Officer, TTP Rwanda

As the Program Management Support Officer, and working closely with the Director TTP, you will be the point of contact for all events in support of the TTP program, planning and organizing logistics, organizing and maintaining program files, providing guidance on program interpretations and technical assistance on regulations, policies and procedures to program staff and other partners as needed. Collaborating closely with the Finance Officer and other members of the TTP Rwanda team, you will oversee the procurement and management of program assets and inventory, contribute to the development of relevant reports, and establish the appropriate systems to ensure the team is effectively and consistently performing administrative requirements to be adequately prepared for audit exercises and to meet with program timelines. Additionally, you will be relied on to keep an inventory of program contracts and transaction documentation.
This is a full-time opportunity based in Kigali with limited travel within Rwanda.
Do you have what we need?
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education or in a related field. A Master’s degree is an asset
Professional qualifications in accounting will have an added advantage
At least 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in program management and administration support
Knowledge and experience of regulatory requirements for institutional funders
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with particular strength in the use of Excel spreadsheet, working knowledge of computerized accounting system such as Sage, and ACCPAC etc. will be an added advantage
Experience working in an NGO is an added advantage
Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to build and manage a variety of internal and external relationships, including dealings with donors
Self-directed with excellent organizational skills, attention to details and an ability to meet deadlines
Proficiency with MS Office, Google Apps, and Skype
Good command of English is required. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French is an asset
