Applications call for Hatfield Lioness Scholarship 2021-2022. The overall aim of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship is to enable a female student from a developing country where access to tertiary education is limited to benefit from undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Durham. The scholarship has been set up as part of the celebration of 30 years of women students at Hatfield College, University of Durham, and is funded by alumni, friends of the College, and other sources supportive of the scholarship’s aims. Hatfield College aims to award the Lioness Scholarship to an individual who has the academic and personal qualities to enable them to complete and benefit from a postgraduate course, and who will also act as a positive ambassador for their home country in Durham, and put their enhanced knowledge and skills gained from the master’s programme and experience in Durham to good use for the benefit of their society when they return home.
Eligible Programs
The scholarship is available for students starting a degree programme in October 2021. Available for all programs except MBA and research Master’s programmes.

Applicants for Hatfield Lioness Scholarship 2021-2022 must
- Have applied for and been offered an unconditional place on their chosen master’s programme by the end of May 2021.
- Not be in receipt of any other scholarship to fund their postgraduate studies or have completed a degree in the UK before.
- Be female.

Furthermore, applicants applying for Hatfield Lioness Scholarship 2021-2022 should
- Hold a relevant honors degree of sufficient standard to be admitted to your chosen Master’s course.
- Have all other course entry requirements including the relevant English language qualification.
- Not hold a Master’s degree.
- Not otherwise have the financial means to study for a Master’s degree in the UK.
Durham University is a collegiate public research university in Durham, England. The university estate includes 63 listed buildings, ranging from the 11th-century Durham Castle to a 1930s Art Deco chapel. The university also owns and manages the Durham World Heritage Site in partnership with Durham Cathedral. The university’s ownership of the World Heritage Site includes Durham Castle, Palace Green, and the surrounding buildings including the historic Cosin’s Library. Furthermore, it was Sunday Times University of the Year for 2005, and the Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the Year for 2015, and was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2018. Durham University Student Volunteering and Outreach was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020.
