Community Manager at Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali: (Deadline 11 November 2021)
The Community Manager is responsible for online and offline marketing & community management and supports the program manager in organising and implementing events & workshops at the Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali.
As the Community & Marketing Manager, you will be in the lead of engaging and building our Rwandan fast-growing network of entrepreneurs and partners. You will also be in charge of developing new (online) strategies to acquire startups for our in-house acceleration & incubation programs and getting new members at the Westerwelle Startup Haus Kigali.
To be successful in this role, you have to be resilient, pragmatic, and agile in many situations. You are the driver of our marketing activities in Kigali and have the responsibility of creating a highly engaging community. You will work closely together with the Global community manager and other colleagues in Tunis, Kigali and Berlin.
Responsibility
Marketing:
- Create and implement marketing strategies using different channels to strengthen the WSHK brand and community engagement
- Manage all social media channels and create engaging and fresh content
- Manage email campaigns to members
- Strengthen relations to press and write press releases
- Track and analyze marketing results
Community Management:
- Drive new member acquisition and build an active and engaging community of entrepreneurs, advisors, mentors and partners.
- Be the main contact person for all incoming communication
- Onboard new members
- Support members with their challenges and identify areas for improvement
- Online engagement: Respond to all messages and manage the WSHK community channel
- Maintain accurate contact lists in the CRM system
Events:
- Organize events and workshops according to member and entrepreneur needs (Speaker Events, Challenges, Hackathons, Fireside Chats)
- Build event proposals for potential clients and send out price quotations according to the client’s needs. Contact all needed suppliers for the event requested.
Program Implementation Support:
- Support program manager during events & workshops
- Manage the online promotion of program participants & activities
- Track and report marketing activities related to programs
- Search for and share relevant contacts and opportunities for program participants
- Identify partners to collaborate with for different parts of the program
Partnerships & Visibility:
- Build and maintain relationships with local startups and the maker space community, universities, other Hubs and potential partners to drive engagement and increase our reach
- Attend relevant meetups and events to increase awareness and drive customer acquisition
Requirements
- BSc in marketing, communication or related study fields, MBA is a plus
- Proven experience in building online & offline communities, social media, and/or PR
- Proficiency in storytelling and generating concepts
- Excellent in verbal and written communication
- Fluency in English required French is a big plus
- Experience launching community initiatives (e.g. launching an ambassador program, storytelling through event series and writing an email newsletter)
- Solid experience in campaign management
- creative, agile and handy with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics
- The ability to provide motions, graphics or videos are a plus
- Experience in working with acceleration/incubation programmes or other relevant work with startups is a plus.
