About Danfo by the Grid
Danfo by the Grid is a new and modern restaurant which brings the best Afro-Cuisine experience to Kigali from Lagos. It’s located in the beautiful and very busy Kigali Business Center (KBC).
What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a self motivated and innovative leader with a track record of efficiently utilizing resources and driving results. Specifically your responsibilities will include:
Staff Coordination
- Coordinate among the various departments in the restaurant – primarily those working in the kitchen and the dining room and the host staff.
- Organize and supervise shifts and make sure all staff are adhering to their respective schedules
Budgeting and Supplies
- Build and manage the restaurant’s inventory and the implementation of inventory policies.
- Manage the stock – this involves ordering food / beverages needed to create the dishes on the menu, accounting for equipment maintenance and making sure all needed supplies are in stock.
- Make sure all services for and by the restaurant are properly paid for and that there is enough money to pay for all wages and supplies.
Customer Satisfaction
- Train and monitor staff level of service delivery to make sure all customers work away with the best possible view of the restaurant.
- Deal with irate customers and defuse the situation calmly politely
- Ensure that the food complies with the company’s and the government’s sanitation standards.
- Manage the restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it.
- Employ various marketing strategies so as to delight customers and increase the number of customers who come to the restaurant.
Human Resources Duties
- Hire and train new staff as needs arise
- Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity
- Motivate and encourage employees to ensure a well-operating restaurant
Administration as an “extra hand”
- Chip in and do other tasks when the restaurant becomes busy, including busing and clearing tables, helping in the kitchen, seating guests and working as a cashier.
- Take on other ad-hoc tasks identified (agreed upon) with the restaurant owner.
Reporting and implementing the owner’s vision:
- Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses
- Implement creative and innovative initiatives to help maintain future restaurant operations when necessary
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
What we want you to bring:
- Familiarity with restaurant management – for example: proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role.
- Food and beverage knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff.
- Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
- Language: English and Kinyarwanda (required).
