PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Bancassurance Principal Officer is responsible for soliciting and procuring insurance business on behalf of UFC Plc; ensuring timely provision of insurance products to clients and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Insurance Services provision & management
- Provide timely insurance support to clients managing credit documents, ensuring credit provision within 1 Day.
- In case of a client’s demise, promptly declare to the insurer and follow up on recovery within 5 days of receiving required documents.
- Monitor fire insurance maturity dates and ensure prompt payment upon maturity to mitigate risks.
- Explain the terms of the service/product of the bancassurance business to a prospective policyholder without any information or misrepresentation of the benefits or costs of the insurance policy;
- Take into account the needs of the prospective policyholder while recommending a specific insurance plan and disseminating the information in respect of insurance services/products on offer by the insurer;
- Inform the prospective policyholder of the premium to be charged by the insurer for the insurance services/products on offer;
- Obtain the requisite documents at the time of filing the proposal form with the insurer and any other documents that may be requested for by insurer to complete proposal and promptly inform the prospective policyholder about the acceptance or rejection of the proposal by the insurer as the case may be;
- Notify the insurer of any adverse habits or inconsistent income of policyholder or beneficiary, along with every proposal submitted to the insurer, and any material fact that may be adversely affect the underwriting decision of the insurer as regards to acceptance of the proposal, by making reasonable enquiries about the prospective policyholder or policyholder as the case may be;
- As may be requested or as may be necessary, identify yourself to the prospective policyholder, insured persons and insurers
- Render the necessary assistance to the policyholder or claimants or beneficiaries in complying with the requirements for settlement of claims by the insurer;
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain good relationships with different stakeholders, including insurers all insurers’ partners;
- Accompany clients dealing with insurance companies when necessary.
- Support clients in negotiating insurance rates in exceptional cases, such as elderly or sick clients
- Ensure timely invoicing and receipt of payments, with no delays. Escalate and follow up on any payment issues or claims
- Collaborate with insurance companies to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with the business team to educate and advise on insurance-related matters for clients.
Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare reports to be submitted to BNR as may be required;
- Prepare quarterly summaries by the 25th of each quarter, detailing payments received, invoices issued, etc., for all branches.
Other
- As may be requested or as may be necessary, identify yourself to the prospective policyholder, insured persons and insurers.
- Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Insurance actuarial science or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing duties and responsibilities as insurance underwriter, Claims or Sales Officer
- Familiarity with insurance processes and regulations.;
- Proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with ICBS or similar credit management software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining collateral documentation.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Time management spirit
- The candidate must have working knowledge in both English and French
