About the role
Looking for a technical person who will be responsible of testing, installing, calibrating, maintenance and repair of dialysis machines, RO systems, electrical systems and other medical equipment in AHN Rwanda dialysis centers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot problems with RO systems, dialysis machines, and other medical equipment used by the clinical team;
- Develop in-depth knowledge in the field of dialysis, particularly the various machines (Dialysis Machines);
- Understand the various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) around Nipro, Fresenius, and Baxter/Gambro dialysis machines including the differences between manufacturers;
- Work closely with other medical professionals, such as doctors and nurses as well as with end-users (patients and their attendants);
- Maintaining the equipment to the best of its performance by organizing a planned maintenance program for all equipment and attending to emergency breakdowns and repairs;
- Training technical or clinical staff on equipment operation and maintenance;
- Install new electrical services and equipment; run conduit for fixtures, receptacles, control circuits, and lighting; select and install wires, accomplish hookups and test installation;
- Perform various technical work including diagnosing motors for overloading and failure; perform voltage and resistance tests; upgrade electrical services;
- Evaluate each job situation as it arises; diagnose electrical problems and search for proper solutions; refer problems to appropriate staff;
- Purchase electrical parts, materials and supplies as needed; maintain inventories; perform record keeping duties for parts and materials used;
- Working with CAD to assist Corporate in the Design of new Dialysis Centers;
- Ensure that support required within the centers are performed as required eg. loop disinfection;
- Review the clinical reports and Center reports from allocated centers to ensure that all BME issues are addressed;
- Carry out inspection & repairs of the equipment/machine at the company site or the hospital site;
- Responding to issues reported on the ground per the turnaround guidelines;
- Think critically and solve complex engineering problems;
- Assist on other engineering and technical problems as they come up, including installation and maintenance of ICT equipment;
- Liaise and maintain relationships with device manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders;
- Keeping a record of the Spares/consumable items/ equipment history etc;
- Performs, but not limited to: needed carpentry, electrical, masonry, and general repairs/maintenance as directed;Handle other team members in a very efficient and friendly manner;
- Repair of dialysis chairs/beds, i.e welding of broken parts
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Competencies:
- Degree/Diploma in biomedical engineering, mechanical/ electrical engineering or related
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- Should possess knowledge of MS Office Applications
- Willingness to travel 20% to 50% of the time
- Able to apply critical thinking and outstanding problem-solving skills
