GRANT and FUNDS MOBILIZATION SPECIALIST at Cleaner Production and Climate Innovation Centre (CPCIC) 

Background introduction

The CPCIC is established under National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA) as private company owned by the Government along with its mandate and its governance structure. The Centre works to better position the country on a green economy pathway.

It aims to provide and promote cutting-edge, modern access to green technologies and business services. CPCIC ensures that all technology, processes and service choices made by the private and public sector embrace the best practices in terms of climate change resilience, circular economy and cleaner and resource efficient production.

The Cleaner Production and Climate Innovation Center (CPCIC) is a key institution promoting sustainable production and climate innovation in Rwanda. As part of its mandate, CPCIC requires highly skilled personnel to support its operations in resource mobilization, financial management, and administrative functions.

Position: Grants and Fund Mobilization Specialist(1)

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Grant and Fund mobilization specialist’s overall responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Generate leads, conduct opening conversations with potential donors and develop outreach and partnering strategies with each
  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify funding opportunities from diverse sources, including government agencies, foundations and private institutions.
  • Analyze eligibility criteria, guidelines, and requirements for each potential grant or funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and develop project concepts aligned with funding priorities.
  • Create and draft compelling grant proposals, ensuring adherence to guidelines and strategic alignment with the company’s objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders to enhance funding prospects and partnerships.
  • Attend and participate meetings, conferences, and networking events to stay updated on industry trends and funding opportunities.
  • Support with any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management or Business Administration with five (5) years of relevant working experience in Grant writing, fundraising, resource mobilization and business development

Or

Master’s Degree in Project Management or Business Administration with three (3) years of relevant working experience in Grant writing fundraising, resource mobilization and business development

Required skills

  • At least five (3) years of proven experience in grants management, fundraising, or donor relations.
  • Strong knowledge of donor landscape and funding mechanisms in the green economy, climate innovation, and circular economy sectors.
  • Excellent proposal writing and grant acquisition skills.
  • Strong networking and partnership-building capabilities.
  • Proficiency in financial and narrative reporting for donors.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French and/or Kinyarwanda is an added advantage.

Desirable requirements

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • High level of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial and narrative reporting.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
