Indonesian Government KNB Scholarship 2021: (Deadline 4 May2021)

Applications are open for the Indonesian Government KNB Scholarship for the year 2021. Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program offered by the government of Republic of Indonesia to selected applicants originating from developing countries. Managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, the scholarship has been disbursed since 2008 to 1,290 recipients from 94 countries.

The role of KNB Scholarship, has been central in supporting Indonesian higher education institutions in their endeavor for internationalization. The number of international students is indicative of global visibility of higher education institutions. In support of Indonesian universities’ internationalization and to accommodate the increasing interests from applicants all around the world, the number of scholarships being awarded every year has continued to grow. The scholarship has also been continuing to expand its partnership with reputable public and private universities in the country. In doing so, the scholarship has been sustaining the quality improvement of Indonesian higher education institutions in order to meet the standards of internationally reputable universities.

Indonesian Government KNB Scholarship aims to

• Contribute to the human resource development in developing countries.
• Promote deeper cultural understanding and to strengthen the relationship between developing countries.
• Improve Indonesian higher education institutions’ research capacity as a part of the national strategies in increasing the number of world-class universities in Indonesia.

Criteria for Bachelor Candidates

• Maximum age is 25 years old.
• Possess a High School degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English). Please be advised that master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master Degree scholarship.
• Have the English Proficiency Test Score as follows: IBT TOEFL of 80, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 700.
• Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
• A recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the employer/immediate supervisor.
• Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools.
• Prove of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).
• Complete the online application form.

Criteria for Master Candidates

• Maximum age is 35 years old.
• Posses a bachelor degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English). Please be advised that master degree holder is not eligible to apply for the Master Degree scholarship.
• Have at least the IBT TOEFL score of 80, or IELTS score of 6.0, or TOEIC score of 700 (the certificate must be obtained within last 2 Years).
• Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.
• Provide recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the employer/immediate supervisor.
• Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools.
• Prove of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).
• Complete the online application form.

Criteria for Doctoral Candidates

• The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.
• Hold a master degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English). Please be advised that Doctorate degree holder is not eligible to apply.
• Obtain a recommendation letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship.
• Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interests in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chose research topic and their plans for the academic future.
• Have a TOEFL or IELTS (or other certifiend English Proficiency Test) score of 90 TOEFL IBT or 7.0 IELTS or equivalent (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years).

Benefits and Funding

This scholarship program offers the chance to learn and experience life in the middle of Indonesian culture. Therefore, International students will obtain both educational scholarship and a deeper cultural understanding of Indonesia. In addition, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) provides Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing (BIPA) course so that international students can get the best immersion experience in the Indonesian language and culture.
