Africa Improved Foods (AIF), is a Public-Private Partnership focused on addressing malnutrition through the production of nutritious, high-quality fortified foods. It is a joint venture involving a number of international organizations: DSM – the largest nutrition company in the world; the World Bank (IFC); the UK Govt (CDC) the Dutch Govt (FMO). The Government of Rwanda, and the World Food Programme.

Our products are intended to address malnutrition among vulnerable population segments such as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, older infants and young children especially in the first 1,000 days of their life. To this end, we have built a world-class food processing plant in Rwanda – to serve the East Africa region – and are now expanding into Ethiopia.

In as much as we are a commercial, for-profit organization, we also strive to have the maximum social, economic and environmental impact possible on the communities in which we operate. In this respect, we have strong working relationships with reputable NGO’s across the EAC Region.

*General Job information* Job title: School Sales Assistant Business Group/Unit: Africa Improved Foods Department: Commercial
*Purpose of the job* We are looking for a results-driven, autonomous and enthusiastic School Sales Assistant to build lasting relationships with private and public schools susceptible of purchasing AIF’s fortified porridge products, and pre-qualify opportunities for AIF senior team to conclude sales.
*Key Responsibilities* The jobholder will be responsible for performing the following duties: Developing the value proposition and engagement plan for schools; Understanding the landscape of educational institutions in Rwanda and its sub-segments (e.g. private/government sponsored/public), their needs and requirements for school meals, and sizing the corresponding market potential Working with the relevant AIF team members to develop a value proposition (product, pricing, commercial pitch) adapted to the identified requirements Building an engagement, sales & distribution plan for AIF products to schools (initially in the Kigali district, with subsequent expansion to the rest of Rwanda) Driving and growing sales volumes by building quality relationships with existing and potential customers; Presenting and promoting AIF products to school management, teachers and students using appropriate material and events (e.g. educational and tasting sessions) Negotiating sales contracts Organising product distribution and delivery Attending local trade shows & exhibitions – working with the Marketing team on new product launches and variety of other market communications initiatives Monitoring customer preferences to determine the focus of sales efforts Monitor data around the school program, including sales performance and impact, and ensure constant improvement; Structuring and updating the database of prospects among private schools and public programs Building relevant (business and nutritional) KPIs, and actionable dashboards Reporting to AIF commercial director on performance Actively proposing adaptations and innovations
*Educational level* Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Marketing or other relevant fields
*Professional experience* 1-2 years’ experience in Sales, Commercial Channel Management in FMCG sector Proven results in Sales, Commercial Planning, Commercial Operations Experience in successfully developing and rolling out sales and distribution plans (ideally in institutional sales)
*Competencies and skills* Building productive professional relationships Engaging and autonomous mindset Excellent negotiating and persuasion skills Teamwork, excellent business acumen, and independent judgment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently Ability to follow through and meet deadlines Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
