Job: Organic Chemistry Laboratory Lead Officer

Job Description

  • Organize and ensure the proper implementation of laboratory activities and plan for improvement
  1. Managing and organizing the storage, Handling, and distribution of test samples
  2. Receiving test samples, keeping record thereof, and assigning work to analyst
  3. Supervising and performing analysis of test items
  4. Planning of the section improvement activities and forwarding to the Laboratory Director for authorization
  5. Identifying and ordering adequate and detailed technical specifications of supplies

  6. Verificationthe supplied laboratory items (equipment, reagents, chemicals, materials needed for analysis
  7. Developing work programs for students on attachment and ensuring they are implemented and proper and adequate supervision
  8. Supervising and evaluating the performance of staff in the section
  9. Preparing and submitting section reports

B. Plan and ensure the quality control program of Laboratory

  1. Participate in the development of laboratory procedures and SOP’s
  2. Identifying verification practices for the quality of test results provided to customers and ensuring implementation by the laboratory
  3. Plan and participate ininter-laboratory comparisons, proficiency testing programs, use of reference materials, retesting of retained items, internal quality control schemes
  4. Development of maintenance and calibration schedules for equipment and application thereof
  5. Developing work instructions for proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste and ensure these are followed at all times
  6. Developing, formulating and validating Standard Operating Procedures, Test Methods and Work Instructions
  7. Ensuring corrective and preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment at all time and maintain the laboratory equipment inventory
  8. Investigating and identifying potential sources of deviations and institute corrective actions for all analytical work

C. Ensure the implementation of quality management system within the Laboratory

  1. Ensuring the use and application of safety precautions and procedures, especially for fire, explosions andnoxious fumes, in the laboratories
  2. Ensuring clean, safe and secure working environment by formulating and implementing procedures and create awareness on proper use and access to test areas, materials and equipment within the laboratory

Job Profile

A0 in Chemistry with 2 years of working experience in quality testing laboratories
