The Viral Hepatitis (HCV) Program in Rwanda commenced its support to the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in late 2015. The major barrier to treatment for Hepatitis C (Hep C) worldwide and in Rwanda is the extremely high cost of drugs. CHAI has been working in partnership with Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) over the last several years providing strategic and operational support to the national Hepatitis program. CHAI has supported the program in developing costed strategic and operational plans, developing hepatitis guidelines, monitoring and evaluation tools to monitor and measure program performance, supported case finding efforts mainly through mass campaigns and assisted in drug price negotiations for Hepatitis C. In parallel to the support around Hepatitis C, CHAI is also supporting the Government of Rwanda in its program for the care and management of Hepatitis B (Hep B) and the implementation of the universal vaccine to prevent mother to child transmission of Hepatitis B. With CHAI’s support, Rwanda aims to eliminate Hepatitis C by 2024, by expanding access to affordable Hepatitis C medications, early diagnosis and immediate linkage to care of all eligible cases.

 

CHAI is looking to hire an associate who together with the existing team will support the hepatitis unit in RBC to implement successfully the elimination plan of Hepatitis C in Rwanda. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills in order to provide critical analytical and strategic support to the program. The candidate must be self-driven, adaptable and have a high level of comfort with fast-paced work and a strong commitment to excellence. They must be self-assured, a fast learner, resilient, and a strong team player. Responsibilities

 

Closely collaborate with leadership to develop clear operational plans for execution
Build and maintain trust-based relationships with key government partners
Provide support to the Rwandan Hepatitis Program on program development relating to viral hepatitis
Work closely, on a regular basis with RBC staff in the development of the Rwandan Hepatitis Program in Rwanda
Support The Rwandan Hepatitis Program in the development, coordination, and implementation of trainings, conferences, and meetings
Support the Rwandan Hepatitis Program to Support the development of programmatic reports by creating content, analyzing data, and synthesizing project activities
Provide technical and capacity building assistance to the Rwandan Hepatitis Program
Identify areas where support is needed, plan for and design the programmatic support
Engage with relevant stakeholders to explore opportunities for market shaping of hepatitis diagnostics and treatment
Work closely with the existing Hepatitis unit to identify and bridge gaps pertaining to active case finding, linkage to care, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation
Support Program Manager in donor and grant management and management of the operations and finances of the program if need be.
Other responsibilities as needed

 

Qualifications

 

Master’s degree in public health/ epidemiology or other related fields.
3-5 years of experience working with health programs
Exceptional strategic development skills, ability to identify and pursue high impact strategies
Analytical (quantitative and qualitative) skills
Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines
Significant government, stakeholder management experience would be added advantage.

 

Required skills:

 

Ability to identify key gaps and recommend practical, realistic interventions for operational improvement
Ability to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information, including technical information, and to prepare compelling presentations and reports
Highly entrepreneurial with strong self-motivation
Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations, multicultural environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities
Excellent communication (written and verbal) with the ability to tailor communication to a variety of audiences’ skills with creative thinking capabilities
Ability to work independently and proactively manage projects with minimal supervision
Ability to multi-task and to be effective in high-pressure situations
Practical project management experience
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
High level of confidentiality and knowledge of research ethics

It is in line with the above that CHAI is supporting the Government of Rwanda and African Improved Foods (The Joint Venture) in ensuring a reliable, high-quality supply of soy and maize for the local production of fortified blended food. In addition, CHAI is also supporting smallholder farmers to increase their productivity and lower post-production losses through best agronomic practices thereby raising their incomes.

 

CHAI is seeking for a talented, passionate, highly motivated, and flexible data Analyst to support the Agriculture Program. The Data Analyst will conduct full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities, and design. He/she will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements. The successful candidate will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 

Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain database/data systems
Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
Develop and implement a database, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or any other relevant field;
At least 3 years’ work experience;
Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst;
Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques;
Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc), (programming or frameworks);
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, STATA etc)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
Excellent spoken and written communication skills, in English
Experience of work in a similar sector of Agriculture

 

Required Skills:

 

Flexibility to work and travel on short notice, as required by the assessment;
Previous experience working in a developing country with the ability to function well in rural settings with limited infrastructure and services;
Willingness to spend significant time in the field and traveling throughout the villages;
Excellent attention to detail;
Extremely organized;
Can work independently;
Able to meet strict deadlines;
Knowledge of agriculture and or African farming context would be an advantage
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
