WHAT YOU WILL DO:

You will be answerable to the Senior Accounting Manager for the performance of your duties.  Your duties will include the following

BOOK KEEPING AND FINANCE (90%)

  • Book keeping and recording transactions in the accounting software
  • Petty cash Management
  • Maintain filing systems for revenues and expenses
  • Preparing payment requests
  • Bank deposits and check book requests
  • Monthly accounts reconciliation
  • Provide assistance in bank reconciliations
  • Preparation for annual company audit
  • Support coordination with AEC Rwanda Trustee Loan program
  • Provide support to the Senior Accounting Manager, Director of Finance & Administration and other Company Management.
  • Phone credit Management

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION (10%)

  • Clerical duties including filing and photocopying
  • Collecting supporting documents from staff and suppliers
  • Provide support to the Administration Manager in preparation for the Annual Staff retreat

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Financial Controller is responsible to provide supervision and leadership to ensure a smoothly running finance department.  Specific responsibilities include:

ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL CONTROLS (75%)

  • Review all entries in the financial system to ensure accuracy
  • Review all prepayments and accruals on a monthly basis
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Review accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the asset register is updated with acquisitions and disposals
  • Run depreciation on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the company has appropriate financial systems at all times
  • Prepare Board reports on a quarterly basis and on need basis
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual cash flow projection
  • Ensure company accounting policies and systems are in place and are complied with
  • Put in place appropriate financial controls
  • Ensure Financial Statements are prepared in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Prepare annual Individual and consolidated Financial Statements
  • Ensure the company has an updated Finance Manual
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulators
  • Participate in the strategic planning process

OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT (25% time)

  • Supervise finance teams in all locations
  • Manage Online banking systems
  • Manage relationships with all banking partners and regulators
  • Work with the Senior Tax Accountant to ensure tax compliance in all locations
  • Work with the Administration Manager to ensure that Supplier contracts are well managed
  • Work with the Human resources department to ensure payroll is processed timely and posted in the accounting system
  • Supervise the annual audit process, as the key contact person to External Auditors
  • Manage the implementation of Management letter recommendations

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful candidates must navigate fast-paced environments with enthusiasm and incredible attention to detail.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • University degree in accounting or related field and professional qualification: CPA or ACCA
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and skills in using accounting software
  • Good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and Rwandan tax law
  • Ability to assess risks and exercise reasonable judgment in making a decision
  • Analytical and reporting skills with the ability to pay attention to details
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with the highest personal integrity, and critical thinking skills
  • At least 5 years of work experience in accounting and finance, or another relevant field, with at least 3 years in a managerial position.
  • English and Kinyarwanda fluency required, French also preferred
