VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) is a Public Broadcaster with a mission of “Providing quality content that meets the needs of the audience and promotes cultural values, socio-economic development and citizen participation”. RBA wishes to encourage all qualified, hard working and interested professional candidates to apply for the following positions:

 

  1. JOB TITLE: TV PROGRAMS PRODUCER/PRESENTERS (2) AND

A TV SPORTS PRESENTER (1)

          

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

  • Produce at least one local program a week;
  • Write scripts to be submitted in the production meeting for discussion;
  • Work with cameramen to shoot programs;
  • Edit or work with editors for final editing of your shows;
  • Direct and/or Present live broadcasts;
  • Drawing up shooting schedules;
  • Advise the in charge of Production on new programs or updates of current programs,
  • Ensure thatall legal requirementsof live broadcasts production  are closelyobserved,
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

JOB PROFILES:

 

Degree in any field with 2yrs exp. in related field, or Diploma in Journalism with 4yrs working

Experience.

 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

 

The candidates should have excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills.  Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of French & Kinyarwanda is an advantage.

 

  1. JOB TITLE: RADIO RWANDA PRODUCER/ PRESENTER

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 3

 

      JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

  • Prepare subjects for talk shows and make extensive research on them;
  • Perform live sports programs or any other show basing on the guidelines of the superiors;
  • Streamline the talk show to meet target audience’s  expectations;
  • Avail weekly production program subjects and their sources of information;
  • Generating and researching ideas for shows;
  • Developing content, writing material for scripts, bulletins and links;
  • Selecting music appropriate to the programme, the audience and the station;
  • Undertaking editing, interviewing and reporting duties as necessary;
  • Presenting programmes for both pre-recorded and recorded output;
  • Using technology, such adobe audition etc, for editing and production purposes;

  • Perform live talk show programs basing on the guidelines of the superior;
  • Prepare program that match with that talk show;
  • Prepare texts that assist him/her in that talk show;
  • Searching for guiding themes in talk shows and to hand over them to his superiors for collective final approval;

  1. JOB TITLE: SUB-EDITOR/ RADIO

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The news Sub-editor is responsible for the news output of Radio Rwanda. She/He leads and manages the planning, production and presentation of Radio news under supervision of the News Editor by:

  • Editing, removing spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in scripts and audio;
  • Re- writing material so that it flows or reads better and adheres to the house style of the organization;
  • Ensuring that a story fits a particular word count by cutting or expanding material as necessary;
  • Writing headlines that capture the essence of the story;
  • Writing news in brief(brief introductions which sum up the story
  • Liaising with reporters or journalists to clarify facts and details about a story
  • Editing press releases or reports;
  • Checking facts and stories to ensure they are accurate, do not break the law or go against the editorial policy;
  • Posting relevant news items on the Website(text and audio)
  • Working on a plan to ensure that the stories appear at the correct time.
  • Planning and monitoring daily/weekly news reports from community radio stations and other RBA’s bureaus.
  • Setting goals and monitor scheduling and performance of radio news presenters/reporters
  • Perform other duty assigned by the immediate supervisors including but not limited to presenting newscasts, host talk programs, appear as a program guest, and produce various features or special programs on RBA’s platforms.

  1. JOB TITLE: MULTIMEDIA EDITOR

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

  • Increase RBA traffic, influence and brand visibility in Rwanda as well as providing an authoritative coverage about Rwanda to audiences in the region and beyond
  • Ensure that RBA and its all products (TV, Radios and WEB) achieves multiple targets such as increasing the site’s direct access via desktop and mobile platforms and enhancing its impact on partner sites and social media platforms,
  • Providing editorial guidance and supervising production work as well as maintaining high standards of work through briefings, feedback, and scrutiny of scripts, and creating a good working atmosphere within the team,
  • Work with section heads to identify compelling ideas for online stories and maintain a content pipeline
  • Expand the RBA digital reach by the use of content distribution services
  • Contribute towards RBA social media presence via online networks,
  • Help produce video material for use on the RBA website, you tube channel and Facebook,
  • Report back on web metrics, ie user traffic, online mentions, social media statistics…
  • Ensure RBA web presence is engaging, web articles are well written, relevant and contain suitable imagery,

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Interact with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns and requests about products and services of the Agency.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Deal directly with customers either by telephone, electronically or face to face,
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries,
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints,
  • Obtain and evaluate all relevant information to handle product and service inquiries,
  • Organize workflow to meet customer timeframes,
  • Direct requests and unresolved issues to the designated Personnel,
  • Keep records of customer interactions and transactions,
  • Record details of inquiries, letters, comments and complaints from clients and orient them to the relevant personnel/department,
  • Record details of actions taken on daily basis,
  • Manage the administration at the front desk,
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments/staff on different issues,

  1. JOB TITLE: CAMERAMAN

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

  • Assembling, preparing and setting up equipment prior to filming, which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and leads, and headphones;
  • Offering advice on how best to shoot a scene, explaining the visual impact created by particular shots;
  • Practicing the camera moves required for pre-arranged shots;
  • Finding solutions to technical or other practical problems (for an outside broadcast, for example, the natural light conditions need to be taken into account when setting up shots);
  • Being prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas;
  • Working quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor;
  • Taking sole responsibility in situations where only one camera operator is involved in the filming;


  • Keeping up to date with filming methods and equipment;
  • Repairing and maintaining equipment;
  • Filming for Programs, for news and Production;
  • Ensure the camera and other equipment they use are well used and kept.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

JOB PROFILES:

 

Diploma in any field with 1yr working experience in filming and photography, or Certificate in any field with 2yrs experience in filming and production. Having editing skills is an added advantage.

  1. JOB TITLE: MAKEUP ARTIST

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

  • Coordinating with the Producers or director and the lighting technicians to get briefed on character descriptions and shooting conditions,
  • Sketching makeup looks for all Guests and Hosts,
  • Calculating the time required for makeup and informing Directors, Producers and Fixers in advance,
  • Designing each character’s look, applying makeup products on Hosts or Guests’ faces and bodies and using prosthetics to create special makeup effects,
  • Coordinate with costume designers and hairstylists to create cohesive looks,
  • Inform the production manager about tools and products needed,
  • Ensure makeup style is consistent during the entire shooting of the Program,
  • Cover scars and tattoos, as needed,
  • Help actors remove makeup and prosthetics,
  • Store makeup products and tools safely.

JOB PROFILES:

Diploma in cosmetology or certificate in any field with 2yrs experience in hair dressing and makeup.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Proven work experience as a Makeup Artist in film productions or TV shows
  • Portfolio with some work samples
  • Understanding of makeup requirements for TV characters (e.g. sculpting techniques and FX prosthetics)
  •  Good time-management skills
  •  Impeccable attention to detail
  •  Flexibility to work long hours during shooting days
  • Certification in Cosmetology, Makeup or relevant field

 

  1. JOB TITLE: FILLING OFFICER

           NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

  • To maintain a record of the incoming files in the company and store them properly using some suitable and appropriate reference code,
  • Before maintaining the files classify them depending upon their content, purpose and user criteria,
  • Maintain an indexed record of the location of the files in some electronic system for easy access of the information,
  • Help the employees in locating the files accessing the location and make the files available at their desk,
  • Perform a periodic inspection of the logs of files available with them and eliminate or move the unwanted and old documents to other places,

  1. JOB TITLE: SALES & MARKETING OFFICER FOR COMMUNITY RADIOS

      EMPLOYMENT TERMS: CONTRACT

      NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 5

      DUTY STATION:  RUSIZI (1), RUBAVU (1), HUYE (1), NYAGATARE (1) & MUSANZE (1)

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

 

  • Marketing and promoting RBA products  to different potential customers,
  • Generating income for RBA from advertising sales and sponsorships (All Revenue streams). This involves selling of advertising solutions and benefits offered by RBA`s advertising platforms to clients,
  • The role is target-driven, with the main aim being to achieve agreed revenue targets on a regular basis,
  • Working closely with colleagues involved in marketing, sponsorship, promotions, events, publicity and programming both at the station and other RBA offices both regional and at the Head office to ensure that RBA products support revenue generation and that clients receive consistently high quality service,
  • Establishing and developing long-term business relationships; sourcing, identifying and securing new business opportunities; generating creative solutions for clients; presenting campaign proposals; making the sale; and delivering accurate reports and forecasts of revenue.
  • Carrying out administrative work which includes maintaining records, producing reports and forecasts, and assisting with finding suitable solution for problems about payments and revenue collection,
  • Listening to customer requirements, drafting and presenting appropriate proposals that create solutions for them but most importantly to make a sale,
  • Plan, prepare and arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business, making follow ups by phone, mail meetings to ensure sales are closed.
  • Acting as a contact person between RBA and its existing potential clients and markets,

Degree in any field with 2 years working experience in Sales and Marketing from a reputable organization.

  • The candidates should have excellent Verbal and written communication skills in English, French and Kinyarwanda.
  • Computer literate with with proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel and power point
