Data Management Lead is a newly created role in Bank of Kigali under the Transformation Program. This is an opportunity for a highly capable and experienced leader to help elevate and transform our capacity in the area of data management as a bank. The lead will oversee the governance and management of critical data entities at the Bank. The role of the individual will be to ensure the quality, conformity and maintenance of the Bank’s Master data/ Reference Data. The Lead will be given the opportunity to lead us through the design of data governance model and the implementation of the data warehouse.

 

This position offers the right candidate a visible role in a long-established and highly respected Bank in Rwanda. The lead will participate in assessing the existing universal banking to implement and map the business requirement to the model bank. Though it is a highly technical role, it is one that requires the candidate to demonstrate the ability to partner with the business and IT leadership to understand the organization’s business requirements and to build and execute a roadmap to fulfill the same. In addition, the candidate will have vast experience in Information Architecture, Data Security, Quality, Governance models, Data Warehousing and Analytics, to build upon our existing enterprise data foundation and expand corporate best practices.

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Managing master data; Overseeing the various data domains of the bank, ensuring conformity across the domains and ensuring that all business terms have an auditable lineage to their source, Managing all data entities content, Managing the security, i.e. permissions to alter the data entities
Implement master data management standards, enforce data governance procedures and ensure data integrity across multiple platforms
Lead business requirements and technical design discussions as subject matter expert
Liaising with the various Lines of Business to assist in remediating technical data inconsistencies and errors to ensure that the Master Data is always clean and up to date.
Maintaining the Master Data Solution; Designing and building new data domains as in when the need arises, Maintaining and updating the existing data domains, Profile the data at regular intervals to ensure quality
Maintaining the overall ETL solution to ensure that data delivered to the Data Warehouse is clean, complete, accurate and conformed.
Partner, negotiate and influence a broad range of stakeholders from the front to back office including operational process owners, controllers and senior managers
Collaborate across the Firm with data managers and key stakeholders to implement key business processes, policies, and strategies
Interacts with the project roles as required, to gain an understanding of the business environment, technical context, and organizational strategic direction
Other professional tasks on the orders of his superiors, in accordance with the scope of work and responsibilities

 

 

Experience

 

3+ years of software development experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Data management.
Must have hands-on experience with development solutions – Data modelling, Data Integration, Data validation, Match and Merge rules and Data stewardship
Financial Services domain experience required.
Proficiency with ETL tools (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Preferred)
Experience with Cloud Database technologies is desired – Azure/AWS – Data Lake architecture/implementation experience
Ability to act as a bridge between IT and Business users.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; strong ability to be an active listener; ability to present complex, technical ideas in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences
Collaborative team player with a strong work ethic that works effectively in cross functional team environment
Qualifications

The Tech Architect Lead will be given the opportunity to lead us through an implementation of Enterprise IT Architecture, migration of data, cutover and integration of T24 Transact CBS application across the business.

 

This position offers the right candidate a visible role in a long-established and highly respected Bank in Rwanda. The role will own and facilitate architecture development; defines future state architecture and roadmap; provides feedback on application designs; provides input on company-wide initiatives; drives innovation; leads technologist through major refactoring initiatives; embeds with engineering teams to jump-start complex projects; drives the technical roadmap of enterprise platforms and helps raise the talent bar by recruiting and hiring top engineering talent. Experience

 

At least 10 years of experience in IT, Business Architecture or Software Engineering
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a solutions architect role
3-5 years of people management experience.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience evaluating business requirements and designing complete technical or business solutions in complex environments
Temenos T24 implementation experience in a banking environment is a big plus
Experience with micro-services architecture, cloud-native architecture and 12-factor application architecture principles and implementation
Experience with modern data and analytical platform architectures and use of AI and Machine Learning
Significant experience with AWS technologies including infrastructure, server less and CI/CD
Experience in agile development practices & methodologies such as Scrum or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE)
Experience in implementing resilient cloud applications and platform services on AZURE/AWS.
Experience in documenting and developing an enterprise architecture for portfolio and project views, including current state architecture, future state architecture; dependencies between applications, solutions, technology capabilities, business capabilities etc.
Designed and documented conceptual, logical and physical hardware, software and application architecture for enterprise applications.

Qualifications

 

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline.
AZURE/AWS Certified Solution Architect, TOGAF or Zachman certifications a big plus.

Understanding of RDBMS; knowledge of MSSQL, DB2 and Oracle RDMS is a big plus

Experience

2 – 3 years of experience in development and design of technology products on digital platforms (i.e. Digital Process Orchestration, Business Process Management and/or cloud-based APIs)
Demonstrate solid architectural knowledge with cloud-based technology stacks, including but not limited to AWS and Azure technology stacks.

Serving as the responsible Lead Business Analyst for the project
Acting as the liaison between the business and Tech Architect team to ensure good collaboration

Attending Bank Architectural meetings / discussions as multiple integrations with T24 is required

Assisting and guiding the bank on how to release code/upgrade regularly, by defining certain base criteria, test considerations and check points
Responsible for implementations of solutions as per business requirements and provide guidance to users for UAT
Actively participate in all defect meetings and ensure all business requirements of business are implemented with no deviations
Supporting the project teams with system queries/issues raised during the Development, Go-Live and Production stages, and if required liaising directly with Temenos Product Team in order to resolve these issues timely
Track and Manage all risks and dependencies regarding core banking implementation across the bank.
Provides advice and technical training required for the various cross functional teams.>

 

Experience

 

Minimum 8 – 10 years’ professional experience in software banking consultancy
10 years’ experience in T24 retail banking
Experience in writing BRD and FSD software specifications
Successful track record of designing and delivering projects
Ability to translate business requirements into IT solutions
Strong analytical skills, organized, process driven and detail-oriented
Good verbal and written communication skills, good presentation and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well with client
