JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

 

With the support from TROCAIRE and USAID, Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace (CEJP) is implementing a project; “Enhancing participatory governance and accountability of local leaders and public institutions towards citizens, particularly women and youth’’. The project aims to contribute to transparent governance, accountability of public authorities and inclusiveness of public policy and budgeting processes in 3 districts of NYANZA, GAKENKE, and RULINDO.

 

It is in this regard that CEJP is looking for a suitable candidate to fill a position of “Field Project Officer” who will be based in the District of RULINDO and will work in sectors of BASE, CYUNGO, and RUKOZO.

 

 

The main responsibilities are as follows:

 

Under the supervision of the Project Officer, the staff will carry out the following tasks:

 

Plan, prepare, facilitate and report on the activities that CEJP proposes to carry out in these three sectors and which are:

Plan, prepare and moderate conferences debates, exchange meetings and trainings on participatory governance in agriculture domain in the Sectors of its assignment district
Raise awareness of local people and target groups to participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of agricultural programs and budgets
Regularly monitor the evolution of citizen participation in the agricultural sector and document the results / best practices generated by the project actions,
Write narrative reports to be submitted periodically to the Project Officer,
Participate in different JADF meetings and open days,
Organize bi-annual meeting of Economic Commission of JADF members to discuss agriculture issues and share experiences in the implementation of the project,
Collaborate with community-based administrative authorities to advocate for the participation of citizens in the agricultural sector.
Gather opinions and grievances of target groups and communicating them to higher levels of decision-making for lobbying and advocacy purposes.
Represent CEJP in the local and district-level meetings dealing with the aspects of partnership and in relation to the objectives of the project.
Participate in joint planning of project activities in the District,

 

 

Candidates must meet the following conditions:

 

Holder a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Agriculture, Law or any other related fields,
Proven experience (at least two years) in the field of community mobilization.
Proven experience in conducting training sessions and facilitating grassroots groups,
Understanding of human rights-based approach and having knowledge of advocacy,
Ability to speak Kinyarwanda and write narrative reports in French or English,
Computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet)
Knowledge of the functioning of the basic administrative structures,
Must possess driving license- Category A,
Be willing and committed to reside in Rulindo district
Agree to work under conditions of regular travel within the community in BASE, CYUNDO and RUKOZO sectors
Being available to start work immediately.
Contract: The duration of the contract will be one year (May 2019- May 2020) but may be renewed once.
