About the Position
The Senior Field Supervisor (SFS) assumes a key role in project implementation within the data team. The SFS supports in-office preparatory activities for projects and assumes in-field supervision and monitoring of surveys to ascertain that field research is implemented according to client’s requirement and adhere to the highest standards of quality. The SFS further ascertains that performance and expenses reporting is done with integrity:
Under the supervision of the Data Operations Associate, the SFS contributes to planning training activities including the production of training material such as field protocols, training presentations, and training manuals.
Assume responsibility for contacting and communicating to the field team assignments and timelines of projects
Manage admin tasks ascertaining that all required materials are printed, and packs are made.
Organize field team deployment ensuring that they have fulfilled all administrative requirements (attended training, obtained valid contracts and health insurance).
Implement field surveys:
Ensuring deployment is effectively done
Monitoring all surveying activities while based on the field with teams of enumerators
Engaging in physical audits of surveys by sitting-in surveys and providing feedback
Engages in daily debriefs with the field team
Ensures that teams’ days worked are logged on appropriate trackers.
Ensures that field supervisors provide appraisals on their respective teams and provides an appraisal for FSs.
Submit daily reports to the management team in Kigali, to inform of field activities progress and challenges.
Organize in collaboration with the Data Operations Associate mop-up activities and recommends a procedure for those.
Check field team expenses reports for accuracy and integrity.
Provide a record of the field team’s days worked as well as consolidate appraisals for the smooth processing of salaries.
Contribute to field reports
Provide key information to guide project debriefs from the field perspective and recommendation for further practice.
Data-team based responsibilities
Contribute to recruitment and the establishment of team processes and systems as advised by a line supervisor.
Assist in other admin, accounting and HR-related tasks pertaining to the smooth operations of the data team.
At least 1 year of work experience leading field operations of medium-scale research projects
Bachelor’s degree in any field
Excellent people management skills
Excellent oral and written communications in English and Kinyarwanda (French is a plus).
Must be Rwandese National
