Job Description

•Ensure the development Climate change related policies & strategies;
•Coordinate climate change mainstreaming process and build synergies across sectors;
•Coordinate the multi
– stakeholder participation/engagement in the process of combating climate change;
•Coordinate/follow up activities aiming at strengthening the national capacity for climate change mitigation, adaptation, finance as well as climate change negotiations;
•Follow up climate change international negotiations and inform national stakeholders on their outcomes;
•Provide inputs and support in the preparation of climate change international events/meetings hosted by the GoR;
•Follow up the implementation of National Communication on climate change under UNFCCC as well as the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement;
•Coordinate research activities on climate change to inform policy
– makers and population;
•Monitor and evaluate the implementation of climate change actions across sectors;

Job Profile

A0 in Meteorology, Climatology, Climate sciences, Environmental Sciences, Development Economics with 3 years of working experience with 3 years of working experience Or Master’s Degree or Equivalent in Meteorology, Climatology, Climate sciences, Agro meteorology, Climate Change Adaptation and Climate Change Mitigation,Environmental Sciences, Development Economics .

 

Key technical skills and knowledge required:

 

– Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Rwandan Natural Resources Management
– Advanced scientific skills in meteorological applications,
– Knowledge of the Natural Resources sector policies and issues;
– High analytical skills and practical knowledge of Interdisciplinary development issue;
– Demonstrated understanding of the Implications of Climate change on the key sector and provide guidance on the Integration of climate risk management.
– Report writing and presentation skills;
– Computer Literate;
– Coordination, planning and organisational skills;
– Interpersonal skills;
– Collaboration and team working skills;
– Effective communication skills;
– Time management skills;
– Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and French, knowledge of all is an advantage.
