Job Description

• Provide media and communications advice to Minister and policy advisers in their ministry;
• Develop media handling plans for all upcoming events and announcements in the ministry including arranging press conferences and drafting press releases and speaking notes;
• Attend national and international audiences and media events of the Minister and the Permanent Secretary and take any necessary follow
– up action;
• Regularly gather information, populate and manage the ministry communications planner and feed information to the Office of the President Communications Office on a weekly basis;
• Attend weekly communications planning meetings chaired by the Director of Communications in the Office of the President;
• Daily media monitoring and preparation of media reports for the minister and senior officials;
• Draft content for the ministry website and upload content;
• Act as a first point of contact for media inquiries by phone and e
– mail;
• Maintain a communications contact database;
• Attend the monthly meetings for communications officers;
• Develop the ministry’s annual media plan;
• Support wider cross
– government communications work as required;
• Maintain good relations with both public and private media
• He/she is responsible for ministry protocol
• Strategic meetings minutes taker
• Carryout research relevant to his/her attributions to ensure standardized and effective performance

Job Profile

A0 in Journalism, Communication, International Relations, Marketing, Linguistics and Literature

Key Technical Skills & Knowledge required :

– Excellent communication skills both oral and in writing
– Excellent interpersonnal skills;
– Report writting & Presentation skills;
– Creativity & Initiative;
– Good Organizational and Time
– management Skills,
– Team working Skills;
– Effective Public relations & Public speaking skills;
– Interviewing Skills;
– Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English and/ or French; knowledge of all is an advantage
