Plan International has been operating in Rwanda since 2007. In the past ten years Plan International Rwanda has an extensive portfolio that covers a variety of areas in both development and emergency contexts that is Operating in 3 Districts and in six refugee camps. There is a growing diversity of partnerships and grants as well as projects funded by the sponsorship programme.

Country Office Driver

Purpose:

  • We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 75 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries. To implement its change journey, Plan International Rwanda has established a program area which includes Gatsibo and Bugesera program offices, hence in need of a Driver to support Gatsibo/Bugesera Office.
  • The Driver will provide transport to staff, visitors, communities and other partners on official functions, aligned to Program Area.

Location:

  • Country Office, Kigali

Reporting:

  • This position will report directly to Logistics and Administration Officer.

Dimensions of the Role:

  • The post holder will report to the Logistics and Administration Officer. He/she has no people under his/her supervision. The post holder has no direct management of departmental budget.

Typical Responsibilities – Key End Results of Position:
Accountabilities

  • Drive the Office vehicles(s) for different purposes: transportation of goods and persons (staff, managers, and visitors), liaison with CO, specific missions on request (travel agencies, banks, gas stations, project office supplies…)
  • Take care for good working conditions and maintenance of the organisation vehicle.
  • Provide help and support in the process of purchasing and acquiring goods and services
  • Make call upon and supervise external technicians
  • Register order forms (pro forma) and care for administrative formalities
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the supervisor related to Plan International work.
  • Strictly follow Plan International Rwanda policies and procedures regarding to the use of vehicles, taking all driving responsibilities and fuelling the vehicle respectively.

Work in the field

  • Keep at any time the contact with Community Volunteers in the field in order to update the sponsored children files, when appropriate visit SCs and Plan International Rwanda projects.
  • Provide support to the sponsorship team in tracing relocated SCs, not closing two districts.

Child protection

  • Plan has a strict child protection policy and guidelines that all staff must follow at all times. All staff are expected to help ensure all Plan International Rwanda associates know, understand and follow these and take an active role in the protection of all children from abuse and exploitation.

Communication and working relationships:

  • The Country Office Driver will be working closely with all departments at the Country Office, Logistic Officer and program areas. He/she will extend relations with External stakeholders (mechanics, petrol stations, suppliers and service providers). He/she will be requested to be more flexible and committed to customer service, strong team working skill and external relations.

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives:

Knowledge

  • Preferably, A2 auto mechanics or related studies.
  • At least 3 to 5 years practical relevant working experience in NGOs.
  • Valid driving license, class B
  • Ability to read and write properly.

  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
