Job Description

1. Develop configuration and installation procedures, perform installation and maintenance of servers:
– Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements

– Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures

– Contribute to and maintain system standards
2. Daily system monitoring and periodic performance reporting, perform backups and files archiving:
– Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning

– Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups

– Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary

– Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
3. Operating Systems patches and upgrade, performance tuning, hardware upgrades and resource optimization:
– Apply Operating Systems patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary

– Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures

– Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
4. Maintain security, performance of system and maintain data center:
– Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment

– Maintain security and the performance of the system

– Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
5. Users’ support:
– Create, change, and delete user accounts per request

– Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues

Job Profile

A0 in Computer Science, Business Computing, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Information Management System, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or A1 in Computer Science, Business Computing, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Information Management System, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with a Certifications in A+, N+ is required; Certifications in CCNA, MCSE, MCSD, MCTs (.NET),LAMP/WAMP Framework or MCITP are an added advantage.

Key Technical Skills & Knowledge required:

 

– Knowledge of Rwanda’s ICT policies and strategies;
– Highly proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems
– Proficient in Microsoft Office products
– Proficient in basic networking protocols and standards
– Knowledge of AD, Exchange, VPN, routers, and wireless internet access;
– Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming;
– Interpersonal Skills;
– Communication skills
– Negotiation Skills;
– Problem
– solving skills;
– Analytical skills
– Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English and/ or French; knowledge of all is an advantage.
