Wellspring Foundation for Education is recruiting a professional IT support Officer on a part-time basis (20 hours a week) for its Rubavu Office, who will be generally responsible to ensure its staff based in Rubavu are professionally supported in all IT matters.

Job Description for Rubavu IT Support Officer
Key Responsibilities
The Rubavu IT Support Officer will be responsible for the following key areas:
1. Helpdesk
Serving as the first point of contact for users seeking technical assistance
Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques
Determining the best solution based on the issue
Walking the user through the problem-solving process
Directing unresolved issues to the ITSO based in Kigali in order to collaboratively decide on the best way forward for resolution.
Providing accurate information on IT products or services to the users
Recording events and problems and their resolution in logs
Passing on any feedback or suggestions by users to the ITSO appropriate internal team
Identifying and suggesting possible improvements on procedures
2. Equipment/Hardware
Configuring workstations, laptops and peripheral equipment or any IT-based equipment (tablets, smartphones, etc.)
Installing, troubleshoot, repair, update and maintain workstations and laptops.
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot printers/copiers
Managing consumables of printers and copiers
Setting up and supporting audio/visual equipment for presentations and trainings on and off site.
Installing and configure peripherals including scanners, external drives, monitors and other peripheral hardware.
Removal/disposal of non-functional equipment
3. Software
Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and updating operating systems (Windows, Mac, etc.) and user applications (Words, Excel, Chrome, etc.).
Proactively schedule and monitor software upgrades.
4. Network Availability
Monitoring network to ensure network functionality and availability to all system users.
Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing cabled, wireless and other network infrastructure.
Supporting and administering access rights for all users in the office
Collaborating with the Kigali ITSO to address issues related to internet unavailability
5. Security and Protection
Maintaining, updating and managing anti-virus software.
Cleaning out infected equipment
If needed, requesting and set up new user accounts and email accounts (with the approval of the line manager).
Troubleshooting, and repairing user accounts and email accounts, assisting in resetting passwords
Training new and current employees on computer software and ICT systems
Ensuring that all IT equipment such as printers, copiers, etc. have the needed electrical power protection
A. Required Character, Skills and Competence
Should have a strong and personal relationship with Christ
Ability to communicate effectively and patiently
Ability to work in a team and to transfer knowledge to colleagues
Ability to work under pressure and to provide the required support
Ability to handle basic hardware troubleshooting
Ability to set up a working Local Area Network (including WLAN), configure Wireless routers and access points and provide the needed troubleshooting
Ability to configure network printers and to monitor the use of consumables
Ability to monitor the proper use of copier and provide required feedback to colleagues in charge
Ability to monitor and renew antivirus software as required
Ability to diagnose and provide proper troubleshooting in Windows. Knowledge of Mac is an added value.
Ability to use and to learn standard applications and information systems
Ability to assess and identify power requirement for IT devices
Ability to speak and write Standard English and Kinyarwanda. French is an added value.
B. Required Qualification and Experience
At least Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunication or any IT related field with at least 3 years of work experience; Or an A1 level in any IT related field with at least 5 years of work experience
Prior experience as an IT professional or technician in a Corporate setting (Business, NGO, Government, etc.)
