The CFO will be an integral part of Jibu’s executive team. Working closely with the CEO and the Board Members, the CFO will support the company’s fundraising efforts and will play a key role in developing the firm’s growth strategy.

This is a fast-paced role with a broad scope of tasks ranging from highest elevation strategy to financial control oversight. The role spans Jibu’s enterprise-wide financial decision-making and planning and will require:

  • Strategic, executive enterprise leadership skills with a customer-centric intuition and sense of fiduciary responsibility to stakeholders and results
  • Financial analysis spanning unit economics to corporate finance
  • Finance team management
  • Responsibility for control systems
  • Developing stakeholder and investor narratives

S/he will also supervise, enhance and support the work of Financial Controllers and Jibu’s partners across seven countries (Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia).

The CFO must be willing to make at least a three-year commitment.

Location and Travel Requirements

  • The CFO will preferably be based in either Kigali (Rwanda) or Kampala (Uganda). International travel will be required.

What You’ll Do:

  • As a part of the company’s core leadership team, help lead Jibu’s growth, profit, and impact
  • Support all aspects of company’s strategic decision-making via sound financial planning and analysis to enable rapid and rooted growth
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports and narratives / visuals for internal team, stakeholders, and authorities
  • Assist with fundraising, capitalization strategy, and the onboarding of new capital partners
  • Oversee operational and financial controls, and evolve them as Jibu grows
  • Provide leadership to Jibu Controllers in each country in conjunction with Jibu’s Country Directors
  • Work closely on tax and compliance issues and ensure taxes are properly and efficiently paid in all countries in which Jibu operates
  • Develop and support financial tools and training for Jibu franchisees and partners
  • Support other tasks as needed, whether financially focused or not

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven financial modelling and analysis capability is a must
  • Proven expertise in preparing financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, proformas, etc. in line with GAAP o QuickBooks online experience is desirable
  • Ability to liaise cross-culturally between stakeholders, management, and local entrepreneurs is essential
  • Substantial experience in emerging markets (preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa) is required
  • A background in corporate finance, investment banking, private equity or impact investing would be ideal; previous experience in management consulting would also be helpful
  • Experience with M&As, IPOs and complex financial deals would be a strong advantage
  • Previous experience in executive finance position such as CFO, Finance Director or Head of Corporate Finance is a strong advantage
  • Previous fundraising experience is a strong advantage


  • Jibu offers a reasonable compensation package for qualified candidates. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to vest ownership shares in Jibu, L3C.
