Location: Kigali and Butaro, Rwanda

Position Overview:

The Marketing and Communication department at the University of Global Health Equity are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern with a passion for project management and strong writing skills to join our team. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in coordinating projects and producing high-quality written content. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination:

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating various projects from inception to completion of Marketing and Communications’ requests and content planning.
  • Collaborate with team members to establish project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective solutions to ensure timely completion of requests.
  • Prepare project status reports and presentations, highlighting key accomplishments, challenges, and next steps.

Writing and Content Creation

  • Contribute to the development of written content for various purposes, including reports, proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Conduct research and gather relevant information to support content creation efforts.
  • Edit and proofread written materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Assist in the creation and management of content calendars and editorial schedules.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with team members, faculty, students and external stakeholders to coordinate Marketing and Communications’ project activities and ensure alignment with objectives.
  • Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and creative discussions to contribute ideas and insights to increase UGHE’s visibility on social media.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate project coordination and writing efforts into broader initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Communications, English, Project Management).
  • Demonstrated interest in project management, writing, and content creation, with previous coursework, internships, or related experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools/software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Jira, Open Project) is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and eagerness to take on new challenges.

Duration and Compensation:

This internship is a 3-month position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and mutual agreement. Compensation will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
