Model Young Package is an international packaging design competition founded in 1996 by one of Europe’s largest packaging manufacturers – Model Obaly as Thanks to the initiative of this company, the competition is still operating today. In its twenty years of existence, it has gained an international reputation and a specific position among the competitions for young designers. Since 2009, CZECHDESIGN has been entrusted with the organization of the competition. Furthermore, the Model Young Package competition has given hundreds of students from all over the world the opportunity to present their original ideas for twenty years every year.
Focus
The Young Package model focuses primarily on paper products. The competition accepts designs made of corrugated and plain cardboard and other paper materials, which are widely used in packaging design. Moreover, the focus of the Model Young Package contributes to the development of a unique field, where the emphasis is on imagination, aesthetics, innovativeness, ecology, manufacturability and above all on the functionality of the proposed packaging. In addition to that, every year the organizers strive to motivate students to reflect on the subject, apply their theoretical knowledge and to move forward by carefully selecting the topic.
Prize
The first prize of the competition Model Young Package 2020: Personal Care is 2000 Euros. In addition to that, one of the winners will also be offered a three-week honored internship at Model Innovation Center after its announcement.
Eligibilities
The contest is open to young creative artists around the world and hundreds of contestants announce each year. Moreover, the Model Young Package competition has two categories. University students and young designers of all ages can apply for the first; students of secondary schools and colleges.
Application
In order to apply, contestants register using the online registration form at young-package.com and then send their work by post to the organizer of Czechdesign.
