Are you passionate about corporate and business compliance? Do you possess a strong understanding of compliance principles and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Compliance team as an Officer, Corporate and Business Compliance.

As an Officer, Corporate and Business Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in realising our aspirations by assisting in the implementation of the execution strategies and plans of the corporate and business compliance function. Your contribution will directly impact the business stability and security of our members, stakeholders and the Rwanda citizens at large.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate and Business Compliance, the Officer, Corporate and Business Compliance will be responsible for implementing legal and regulatory compliance programs laid out by the RSSB management. Your responsibilities will include assisting various RSSB functions in participating in drafting of RSSB compliance policies and guidelines, identifying compliance weaknesses,evaluating corporate and business activities to assess likelihood of compliance risk and much more.

The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) has the mandate to manage and promote social security in Rwanda. RSSB’s vision is to provide a comprehensive social security system that caters to the diverse social security needs of the population, RSSB plays an important role in realising Vision 2050 and the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1). RSSB manages six social security schemes, namely: Pension, Occupational Hazards, Medical scheme, CBHI, Maternity Leave Benefits and EjoHeza (Long-term Saving Scheme).

As a leading player in the financial sector, RSSB serves as the largest institutional investor in Rwanda. With assets under management amounting to 1.9 trillion Rwf, which is equivalent to 17% of the country’s GDP, RSSB invests in key sectors of the economy and plays a crucial role in providing up to 20% of liquidity for the financial sector. With approximately 12 million members in the above six schemes, encompassing close to 90% of Rwanda’s population, RSSB is at the forefront of securing the health and financial well-being of Rwandans.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Proactively audit processes, practices, and documents to identify compliance weaknesses.
  2. Ensure that assessment findings are recorded and followed up with management so that compliance issues can be rectified.
  3. Develop and implement periodic training for all departments to ensure staff awareness of potential and existing compliance matters and market trends applicable to RSSB.
  4. Report on current corporate and business risk and compliance performance.
  5. Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the Institution.
  6. Review marketing materials, presentations, and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  7. Assist in gathering internal information in response to regulatory requests.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance.
  9. Determine compliance metrics and establish a system for tracking them.
  10. Perform compliance audits to determine whether established protocols are being followed and propose improvements.
  11. Create a compliance resource library for staff members to reference when they have questions.
  12. Prepare and timely submit periodic and annual reports as required.

 

Key Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have at least:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Law, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance Management, Economics, Data science, Finance, or any other relevant field

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Economics, Data science, Finance, or any other relevant field preferably with 2 years relevant experience

Additional Information:

The position is based in Kigali, Rwanda and applicants must be willing to relocate outside their countries of domicile.
