The position is based in either Bonn or Berlin and will start on March 1, 2024, or as soon as possible, for a one-year term. Eligibility Criteria

All applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must have completed a university degree or equivalent qualification
• Completed traineeship or comparable journalistic training
• Many years of journalistic experience as an online author in Persian-language editorial departments or editorial experience as a planner and final editor
• Experience and willingness to appear in front of the camera as a reporter, expert, and host
• Comprehensive knowledge of the current political, economic, social, and cultural conditions in Iran
• Comprehensive knowledge of German and international politics and current events
• Editorial and conceptual experience in the area of social media production
• Team spirit, confident demeanor, flexibility, initiative, and organizational talent
• Willingness to travel on business if necessary
• Very good knowledge of spoken and written Farsi, as well as basic knowledge of English and German

Editor’s Responsibilities and Task

If selected for the Persian Freelance Editor Position with Deutsche Welle (DW), you will undertake the following Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Independent topic planning, research, and content production for DW Persian formats
• Adaptation and review of contributions, including the selection of agency offers
• Providing a comprehensive picture of political, cultural, social, and economic life in Germany and Europe
• Quality assurance of content, focusing on text quality, SEO, and image selection
• Participation in planning, final editing team, and development of new formats for social media platforms
• Independent selection of topics in video and text areas, assessing suitable topics for daily reporting
• Producing Explainers on camera as a content creator
• Conducting live conversations and broadcasts for TV and social media
