A postdoctoral fellowship position is available at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in the laboratory of Yu Zhang, M.D., Ph.D.

The focus of the Zhang lab is to identify mechanisms that promote antibody diversification and suppress associated oncogenic lesions in B lymphocytes. Antibody diversification generates the numerous antibodies in human body and plays a pivotal role in protecting us from infectious diseases and cancer. Abnormal antibody diversification underlies diseases ranging from immunodeficiency to autoimmunity and contributes to oncogenic translocations in various leukemias and lymphomas.

The Zhang lab is particularly interested in how chromatin status and genome architecture collaboratively contribute to the protective and pathogenic effect of antibody diversification. Projects will employ cell line and mouse models with a variety of state of art approaches, including CRIPSR/Cas9 mediated genome manipulation and various next-generation sequencing techniques. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to closely collaborate with experts in immunology, molecular biology and bioinformatics.

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following qualifications to be eligible for Postdoctoral Fellowship at Western Michigan University

• A Ph.D. in immunology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology or biochemistry.
• Applicants on track to graduate before July 2021 are welcome to apply.
• At least one first-author or co-first author research paper in peer-reviewed journals.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in the organization of workflow.
