Job Opening: Project Coordinator for a Radio Drama Project on Reducing Violence Against Women
Who We Are
The Rwanda Men’s Resource Centre (RWAMREC) is a Rwandan non-governmental organization working to promote gender equality and positive masculinities by engaging men and boys to challenge gender-based violence and support the empowerment of women and girls.
RWAMREC envisions a peaceful Rwandan society where women and men share roles and responsibilities in raising families and governing society with equality and respect for human rights. Our mission is to transform harmful masculinities and promote gender equality through engaging men as supportive partners, caring fathers, and agents of change.
Context
Since 2024, RWAMREC has been partnering with NOVAH (No Violence At Home), a non-profit organization that develops innovative entertainment-education programs to prevent intimate partner violence (IPV). Together, RWAMREC and NOVAH co-created Twubakane, a successful radio drama that was aired on Radio Musanze in early 2025. Encouraged by its impact, the partnership is moving into a new phase to deepen and scale this work.
This new phase includes:
- A small-scale quantitative evaluation of Twubakane
- Formative research for a second season
- Scriptwriting and production of 10 new episodes
- Broadcasting via multiple radio stations
- Implementation of a large-scale randomized controlled trial (RCT)
To coordinate this next phase, RWAMREC is hiring a full-time Project Coordinator for an initial period of 12 months, based in Kigali with frequent field travel across Rwanda. The position may be extended depending on performance and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Planning
- Coordinate all phases of the project, from formative research to production and broadcast.
- Ensure timely implementation of activities, tracking deliverables and deadlines.
- Maintain weekly check-ins and collaborative planning sessions with the NOVAH team.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and support enumerators, writers, translators, and field staff.
- Support quality assurance during fieldwork and script development.
- Ensure ethical, inclusive, and respectful team dynamics.
Field Research & Evaluation
- Oversee data collection for formative research and monitoring activities.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, including informed consent and data security.
- Coordinate research tool translation, testing, transcription, and data quality review.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with institutional stakeholders of RWAMREC, ensuring transparent communication and collaboration.
Recruitment & contracting
- Support recruitment processes, including ToRs, shortlisting, interviews, and contracting.
- Ensure compliance with RWAMREC internal procedures.
Creative Facilitation
- Contribute to scriptwriting processes by coordinating co-working sessions and feedback loops.
- Manage production timelines and ensure outputs meet quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Gender and Development, Public Health, Social Sciences, Project Management, or other related fields (A Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in project management, preferably in the gender or social development sector.
- Proven ability to coordinate field activities, manage teams, and oversee project implementation.
- Strong monitoring and evaluation skills, including experience with field research.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Kinyarwanda and English (knowledge of French is an added value).
- High standards of professionalism, ethical conduct, and teamwork.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Rwanda.
- A flexible, proactive, and problem-solving mindset.
Assets (preferred but not mandatory):
- Experience with radio production or media campaigns.
- Familiarity with RCTs or academic research in Rwanda.
- NGO experience, especially in gender equality or social behavior change.
