SPOUTS of Water Rwanda LTD is a for-profit social business that manufactures and sells the Purifaaya™ ceramic water filters and distributes rocket stove technology. SPOUTS was created in Uganda in 2014 with the simple idea that ceramic water filters could be made and sold locally, providing an amazingly effective product through a sustainable business model. SPOUTS is currently the largest ceramic water filter manufacturer in Africa.
Since SPOUTS sold its first Purifaaya in 2015, it has distributed 130,000+ filters to East Africa providing over 650,000 end-users with long-term access to safe drinking water. SPOUTS is a rapidly-growing organization with over 500 employees across Uganda and Rwanda. The next step is to expand its operations throughout East, West and Southern Africa.
Role description
The Regional Sales & Marketing Manager will be responsible for Kigali region (Nyarugenge, Gasabo and Kicukiro). The Regional Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for maximizing the sales potential of SPOUTS and raising the Purifaaya brand within the assigned territory by identifying prospects, executing sales strategies, and coordinating the market activations to support our Strategic partners. The Regional Sales Manager is expected to achieve the set sales targets in the assigned territory, build good relationships with key strategic partners and raise the Purifaaya brand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- To achieve a set sales target for the territory through growth in the Portfolio of Retailers and Distributors/Wholesalers (Strategic Partners), and by growing in the numbers of end users.
- Engage and partner with Corporates, NGOs, public institutions, and Cooperatives operating within the region with the aim of bulk buying for distribution to surrounding communities.
- Ensure the monthly sales and revenue targets set per sales channels are met.
- Raise the regional sales volume to its possible best.
- Working closely with the distributors/ stock points, and retailers based in the area to ensure that they have enough stock for their customers.
- Responsible for the execution of the sales activities planned per sales channels in the territory (e.g.: Activations to key places and Umuganda Day, regular visits to potential partners e.g., Corporates, Cooperatives, NGOs, Public institutions, …. etc.)
- Provide the necessary support to Sales reps and Sales agents to enable them to generate market leads and close new deals.
- Manage, develop, coach, control, and motivate the sales force to develop their skill to ensure that high professional standard is achieved.
- Ensure there is a mechanism in place to monitor individual performance, assess progress and provide feedback to support individual development.
- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team and manage the sales program accordingly, including undertaking recruitment and coordinating training as required to expand the sales program.
- Resolving customers’ needs with support from other departments.
- Surveying, tracking, and reporting competitors’ activities.
- Represents SPOUTS within the territory assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any business-related field
- At least four years of experience in a highly competitive sales/business–related environment
- Preferably 30 – 45 years of age
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to identify opportunities and chase them
- Extensively proven experience managing and directing a sales program, people management, recruitment & managing Sales agents, customer relationship management, and achieving sales targets
- Experience with managing a diverse team to meet specified sales targets.
- Experience with managing Sales Representatives and Sales Agents is critical.
- Experience working with Distributors/Wholesalers, retailers, and other key strategic Partners (e.g.: NGOs, Corporates, Cooperatives, Public Institutions, etc.) is MANDATORY.
- A successful track record in setting priorities, managing work demands, and evaluating progress while remaining responsive to changing priorities.
- Uses initiative to develop new approaches and to encourage high-performance outcomes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to training staff to maximize individual and organizational goals.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of SPOUTS of Water Rwanda.
- Works well in a multi-functional and multi-cultural team
- Fully proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Fluency in spoken and written Kinyarwanda and English language skills
Other Requirements:
- Must have a valid rider or driver’s permit/license
- Must have a smartphone with an Android version 4.5 and above
