INTERNAL & EXTERNAL JOB VACANCY – SHE COORDINATOR 

We are seeking to hire a Brewery Safety and Heath Environment (SHE) Coordinator (JG 15) based in Gisenyi, reporting to the Brewery Manager.

JOB PURPOSE

The SHE Coordinator ensures the organization is driving for continuous improvement to achieve and sustain zero accidents and zero incidents.

Contacts:  In the execution of his/her daily tasks the Safety Coordinator interacts with various stakeholders.

Internally: Brewing, Packaging, Quality, Maintenance, Utilities, TPM, HR, Emergency team, First Aid squad, Process safety specialist, BBS specialist, Brewery management team and other breweries/production units in the OpCo.

Externally: Suppliers, Inspection bodies and Contractors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES.

1. SAFETY, FOOD SAFETY, AND SUSTAINABILITY

  • Showing example behavior regarding Safety and Sustainability.
  • Supporting the Brewery manager in leading the Safety Pillar.

    Results:

The management team is advised pro-actively and upon request regarding safety. The Brewery manager is taking over the lead of the TPM Safety Pillar Route, which is further developing towards steps 2, 3, and 4.

The Safety Coordinator  is enabling Brewery Management Team to take over the “driver seat” with respect to safety leadership by means of training, coaching, and advice.

2. RISK ASSESSMENT

  • Plans and executes the High-Level Risk Assessments and the Safety Culture Survey.
  • Introduces the Last Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) for contractors.

Results:

High-Level Risk Assessments are being executed for all departments, areas, and processes according to the ORRR, follow-up is being organized.

The Safety Culture Survey is executed, and an improvement plan is drafted. Non-routine hazardous activities of contractors and own employees are identified.

 

3. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the investigation of accidents and incidents and defines roles and responsibilities in this process.

Results:

Accidents, incidents, and PSM events are being analyzed by applying the right tool i.e. 5 Why and/or BowTie methodology, lessons are shared by safety alerts. Near misses are being reported and data analysis are being conducted.

4. SAFETY COMPLIANCE

  • Ensures that preventive observation is done by managers, supervisors, and specialists (Behavioral Based-Safety progression).

Results:

Observers and safety leaders are selected and trained in preventive observations.

5. GOVERNANCE & PERFORMANCE

  • Ensures further development of the Daily / Monthly / Yearly control system (safety tags, near misses, safe/unsafe behaviors, etc.)

Results:

DCS is expanded with data on average response time on solving safety tags, and near misses. Desired safe behavior is monitored.

6.  ORGANIZATION AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Effectively organizes the safety department and manages the Emergency Team Coordinator, First Aid Squad Coordinator, Process Safety Specialist, and BBS Specialist including recruitment, performance management, and (career) development, according to the Heineken procedures.

Results:

Engaged and motivated employees, utilizing their full potential of employees. Optimal organization of the safety department.

7. SAFETY TRAINING

  • Ensures training of employees, managers, and contractors in BB-S, preventive observations, and LMRA.
  • Ensures further development of safety engineers by means of extra training according to Capability Development Framework.

Results:

All employees have followed BB-S training, a BB-S improvement plan is being rolled out. Managers are able to perform safety observations according to the BB-S program. Contractors and their own employees are trained in applying the LMRA for non-routine hazardous activities.

8. SAFE OPERATIONS

  • Organizes the validation of safety instructions (SOPs, OPLs, etc.).

Results:

All work instructions are validated for safety. Remaining risks are mentioned, countermeasures a described, as well as the need for additional PPE.

Qualifications: University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Labour Safety/Law or Environment Engineering.

Experience: At least 3 years of working experience, preferably with 1-year relevant experience in Food & beverages industry
