Technical Support for Agricultural and Livestock Commodities and their System to Comply with SPS measures and Certification: (Deadline 11 December 2020)
The Government of Rwanda through the support of Trademark East Africa (TMEA) in its efforts to strengthen and dynamize the capacities of food business operators to export plant produce (tea, coffee, horticulture commodities like vegetables, fruits, flowers) and animal food commodities such as honey, meat and dairy products, has initiated a project under the auspices of the Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (RICA) in collaboration with National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), and Rwanda Standards Board (RSB) to support both the Food Business Operators in the 6 value chains (tea, coffee, horticulture, honey, meat and dairy) to comply with third party certification requirements such as ISO 22000, HACCP, Rwanda GAP, Global GAP, Rainforest Alliance, Organic Farming, etc. and the staff of the Rwandan conformity assessment authorities/ bodies in charge of food safety and food quality to comply with their respective international standards requirements.
The implementation of the project which is solely technical (training and coaching) has been awarded to an international consulting company “Agriconsulting Europe SA” (AESA) and will focus on the following value chain players:
✓ Tea and Coffee Operators
✓ Veterinarians operating veterinary pharmacies
✓ Agro dealers
✓ Farm Assurers for Global GAP implementation
✓ HACCP and Rwanda GAP institutional inspectors and auditors
✓ HACCP and Rwanda GAP independent auditors or interested local consultants
✓ Certification Bodies interested to operate in Rwanda
